Unable to buy a residential rental lot

Hi,

I’ve recently downloaded For Rent and I haven’t been able to buy a rental lot. I buy it when it’s unoccupied and unowned, and it takes my money, but then it doesn’t show up in the owned lot section in the corner. So I’m only able to buy one room, not the building.
I have also tried buying it as a residential and converting it to rental, and it still doesn’t come up as owned or with options to add tenants.

any help would be great

  • Hi @HollySherwood33 Are you playing with any mods or CC in your Mods folder? If so, see what happens after you drag that folder to your desktop and delete localthumbcache. (Don't save, though! Or test in a new game.)

I'm having the same problem! I was able to buy rental lots in a different save but not my current one. I've also NEVER used CC/mods, so it can't be due to that.

I've tried it with two different households, two separate lots, but it didn't work. I've deleted the households and moved them back in from the gallery, still doesn't work. I cleared the thumb cache thing, doesn't work.

@Serabee What exactly happens for you if you try and buy them ? They don't show up in the properties tab or do you not have the option to buy them ?

I buy it and am taken to the rental property where I can see the lot information in the properties tab, but as soon as I leave the lot the property no longer shows up but the money is still gone and I can't repurchase it as it says the lot is owned. But by all accounts I don't seem to own it.

EDIT: It seems to trigger when I try to move my Sim, who owns the lot, into one of the rental units.

Up until that point it's fine, they're shown as owning the lot, but once I go to rent one of the units I no longer own the lot.

EDIT 2: If I move them back out, they own the property again. But they can't seem to own it and live on the lot at the same time.

(probably last) EDIT: Okay, I was able to fix thing by buying the lot as a residential lot and then converting it to a rental lot and reassigning all the units.
