Re: NFS Carbon PS3 (Online Servers 2019).

@Jacobba55 Very well said! You are most welcome man! It was an awesome session today! I am looking forward to our next racing session together!
It would be fantastic to have more people playing this game guys. We need to keep it alive while it lasts. We still don't know when the PS3 online servers will shut down for this game. Even though it is an old game (2006), it is still very fun to play. You have the option of driving manual transmission as well, which is a dying breed of car games these days unfortunately. I started playing this game in 2008 and we had so many players online back then. Let's try and revive those classic racing game days!
As @Jacobba55 explained, if we have more players online, that increases our likelihood of all of us achieving the 8 player reward cards on ranked match. There is also the EA moderator card, however I'm not sure if that is possible to achieve because up until this day I'm still not sure if there are legitimately EA moderator racers out there. I tried reaching out to one from a while back who claimed that he was an EA moderator on NFS Carbon on PS3, but he still hasn't got back to me yet.
I'm really hopeful that we will be able to see more players on NFS Carbon and it would be really fun racing against all you guys! Have a nice day all!

Hi there, I've found a list of those moderators in question but these are their Xbox Live accounts. If we can reach them out through that, they should lead us to the ones with PS3s.

  • @Ozer928Hi there. My PSN is palikary26e. I have been playing Carbon for 13 years and have been trying to attain that EA moderator reward card for years now. Have you tried reaching out to any of those EA moderators? Alot of friends of mine, including myself still play online on Carbon PS3 quite frequently and are willing to challenge any PS3 EA moderator out there.

    Thank you!

    Kind regards,

    George

  • @Ozer928 also, do you play carbon on PS3? If so, what is your PSN, so we can race some day?

Hi there. It's been a couple of weeks I got my hands on it. Just wanted to see what it is like, so that's why I got it. My PSN is the same with my account name here. Hope to do it once we're both online.

  • I had no idea that a simple question as to whether the game's servers were still running back in 2019 would become an attempt to revive the NFSC online scene, and I'm still finding like-minded players who are still searching for those last few reward cards...

It's been a blast, yet really frustrating. There have been brilliant moments of gameplay, yet horrible connection issues and fatal lag issues. Overall though, it's been a pleasure. Although I may not have been the most active, I can only hope that the time I've managed to be online will suffice; I will endeavour to get on to see the game's final moments too, before the servers are finally shut down at the end of the month.

    That's all from me!

  • Bro, do you still play NFS Carbon on PS3? and do you know someone who managed to get all the rewards cards online on the PS3?

    @xzenilson_BR

Unfortunately, I don't play Carbon on PS3 as much as I used to - though I did enjoy Most Wanted '05 on the PS2 last week.

To answer your question, I believe the official EA servers for several Need for Speed games developed by Black Box and Criterion were shutdown and have been since August 2021. I do not know if there are any fan servers or anything like that, but Carbon online effectively no longer exists for the vanilla PS3 game.

As for reward cards, some of them are exceptionally difficult - particularly the one which requires you to race (and beat) an EA moderator. If there was anyone who could have done a clean sweep, it would be the amazing @George26e - he is an expert on NFSC and a superb racer with great knowledge of in-game tuning too. It's a shame that it's gone and that NFS is heading in the direction it is currently; I would have really enjoyed racing him (and others) seeing as my racecraft as far, far better than what it was back then!

All the best. Sorry to disappoint at all.
