Re: Late hits, boarding, and interference..

Hey there, @TasteofChicago91

If you could get some video of this, it would really help.

Headshot penalties aren't in the game and elbowing, I believe, happens in offline modes. Elbowing used to randomly happen when charging, but that was changed to just be charging since you can't really control elbowing.

If you can get some videos of what you're experiencing, I'll get them reported. Thanks!

I got a few videos.. what is really important is that teams are using this as an exploit by charging all over the ice with late hits and charging but on each of these hits there was no penalty. Also not every hit should be a monster hit

maybe I am wrong but does this seem realistic?

@EA_Aljo I will say it happens more in 3s but I think it’s also too easy to make a 6 foot 7 build with lots of speed and disipline and then teams go around doing it. There was one game last night where every player on the other team was destroying us with hits and some of them were legitimate but I’d say half the time it was boarding, charging.. I had some of my teammates even yell “I don’t even have the puck” and get interfered with.. happens on occasion and more in 3s but sometimes in 6s too..

I think maybe hit assist could be looked at and the frequency of penalties in certain situations and the timing windows on hits after releasing the puck?

Of course this is just my opinion so feel free to disagree but if you go out and play some eashl games I think you’ll see teams trying to exploit a few of these aspects.

I’ll try to get more video too

I have to say I strongly disagree with the request here. There was one a bit late hit, and other hits were just fine. This is arcade(ish) hockey. Especially playing 3v3, I'm not expecting anyone to get charging or boarding penalties. It would be super difficult to control boardings, for example.

I would argue that you can get around those huge players by passing the puck faster, and avoiding the hits. Usually they're not too agile, which makes it easier to avoid them with a nimble player.

@happyhappy42 You can get around the players but sometimes they destroy you well after the play or without the puck. It’s way too easy to just go around smashing people. If you use a giant build you shouldn’t have all that speed and right now it’s an exploit.

If you board someone or you are exploiting the game and taking players out of the play with interference, charging etc. make it penalty every time..

Teams are getting rewarded with bad hockey and it’s way too easy to square up hits. It should be much much more difficult where you have to line it up perfectly.

Let me ask you this.. when you watch a 3 vs 3 Ot game do you see this? No you don’t because what happens is nearly impossible in real life hockey or if a player was going around doing this they would be kicked out.. not to mention the player woikd lose stamina and not be able to move so fast to make hits and keep up.

@happyhappy42 it ruins the experience for a lot of players when you know they took a penalty and the game didn’t call it and then they get a chance the other way. All I’m saying is they can make a few tweaks because it’s currently more effective to just skate around hitting since it’s so easy.. it’s more effective than actually using your stick, playing the right angles etc. i was joking the other day that maybe I should just make my guy 6-7 250 and go around destroying everyone with crazy high speed.

@TasteofChicago91 I understand what frustrates you, and I don't agree about the boarding or charging penalties. If you look at the animations, the players should be removed from the game after about 90% of the hits due to the hit being a hit to the head – hitter because of violation, the player hit due to injury. To me 3v3 is pretty arcade, and I think it's cool that there's big animations for big hits. Maybe we have different expectations for the mode.

Being able to destroy someone 3 seconds after they let the puck go sucks, and I would vote for getting rid of that, but I don't think your clips showed too much of that.

@happyhappy42Club 3's is not an arcade mode. Its as competitive as a lot of us can be. I have 3 friends left that still reluctantly even buy this game. I cannot play 6's because we dont have enough people. That drop in 3's stuff with the boosts is an arcade mode. This is a competitive mode to alot of us but were forced into playing made up rules and all this nonsense for no reason.

Seriously, can we get an explanation as to why penalty shots were just forced into this game mode? And why NHL rules were removed to cater to those penalty shots being forced into the game?

Just put the dude that takes the penalty in the box and play 3-2 and such. Oh I bet thats why, the dev team cant/doesnt want to write the code to make this work seeing that it require new code from the regular modes. So then make it OT rules and give us a computer player. That would suck but its a better option than the auto goal nonsense that is penalty shots.

@happyhappy42 Club and drop in 3v3 isn't supposed to be an arcade style game. It's supposed to be more simulation. There is a full on game mode with a smaller rink, money pucks, no penalties, and super arcade for people that want to play something that isn't simulation.
  • @DominickB3 @mikeq67 I'm aware of the Threes, and it's too party-mode for me. I just can't currently see 3v3 to be a non-arcade mode with how it currently is. It's way too random with the goalies being varying from hangover-beer-league-goalie to a NHL all-star goalie having a great day. It's like competing on rolling a dice. And I see a difference in drop-in vs teams, expecting the latter to be more competitive.

Also, with the arcade comment I'm referring a lot to the boardings and other animations, which to me are just animations, which don't affect the game play. And it's pretty much impossible (for me) to control if I'm hitting as hard as I can or just stopping the other player – unlike in real life. Late checks is another thing.

All said, I understand where you guys are coming from and would welcome the changes to penalty shots, for example. Even I have a penalty shot move which work pretty much every time, which is just stupid.

@happyhappy42 You can control your hitting. The problem is you can go around hitting 30 times a game in an out of control manner With reckless abandon.. it’s just like stick lifts and pokes.. if you are reckless with it shouldn’t you be punished? Shouldn’t we be reward smart, timing based plays?and I just want to play hockey

@TasteofChicago91 How can I control the force used for a hit? I honestly don't know. To me it always seemed that you either try to hit or don't, and then it's either a big hit or a small hit depending on some factors.

You control the force with two things: 1) your build ie. how big, heavy and strong your player build is, and 2) how fast you're skating when making the hit... unless you're CPU player in which case they can make huge hits from stand-still. 🤔

What it bugging me more and more is those hits or nudges from behind which make your player fold like Swiss army knife, and your player almost hits his forehead on the ice. Two things about that... 1) if you really get hit like that from behind, how come you can stay on your skates and aren't knocked down, balance? And 2) I am trying to think of a situation in real life, how that might happen. And the only way I can think of it happening is getting hit on your shoulders or neck... and the only way you can do that would be a cross-check... Sounds like a penalty to me? Although cross-checks aren't "itsindagame"??? I wish they removed/changed that animation, it's plain stupid and annoying.

@happyhappy42 the main issue is that teams that exploit the system. Should there be big hits in the game? I think everyone would agree. Hockey is fun like that.. BUT i feel like it’s too easy just to make a giant build with speed and get away with penalties. It’s also too easy to do things at odd angles but it almost seems harder in situations where you blatantly should win a puck battle.. for example how many times have you poked the puck off a players stick and the guy kept it? But someone hits/pokes from behind or from a bad angle and it works..

I just want to play some hockey and I get that it will never be 100 percent realistic but I think we try to get it as realistic as possible right?

Generally in EASHL clubs, I feel this year's hitting has changed in two ways, firstly hits seem a bit more "arcade", if you will, big hits are really big etc. With some funny animations too. I don't think I have gotten charging penalties even in some questionable cases in 6v6. I don't even wanna talk about 3v3...

But on the other hand, it seems that it's easier to miss the hit now, like the opponent slides off to one side, possibly by holding his stick one one side...I feel like my hit should have connected, but nothing happens. Maybe the 'hitbox' is smaller or something? I haven't tried truculence yet.
