I noticed this too.  When you go hit someone, your player does this goofy shove animation that barely does anything OR there is a delay in the AI taking the hit.  

Often i line a guy up and my player does that goofy animation the wrong way. All of a sudden i am alone in the zone and have to skate back to the play.  I really dislike what they did to hitting this year.
