@EA_Nils That's just a workaround to avoid it when the problem hasn't been fixed. Normally to do that while it's being patched by the providing company.
Please fix the problem. I still want to receive notifications but not with the cost of getting tabbed out a game (i.e. BF3).
Totally agree, turning off the notification is not a proper fix. it just shouldn't bounce you out at all. Please fix.
That is indeed a work-around for a problem that needs to be fixed. How about you let us decide not only how these things are presented but WHERE. I'd love for them to pop up on my 2nd monitor! But then, I'd also like the client to work properly, but I can dream, right?
Same problem for me as well after the most recent update to Origin.
Need for Speed Payback and Sea of Solitude were both attempting to launch at random (without me prompting it to load) and never loads.
It just says it's launching for a few seconds and then stops, yet the games still say I last played it on the date it tries to launch.
It is dropping me out of games I'm playing in other launchers by forcing those games to minimize.
On boot up of my system, Origin is set to launch at boot, Origin crashes and I send an error report.
I then launch it manually just to end up with Origin hijacking my screen every 5 minutes, no matter what I'm doing.
I have also turned off all notifications, cleared all temp cache, and done a clean reinstall of Origin.
No fix.
EA, please help.
It just did it again with Unravel Two.
The issue appears to be tied to Origin Access games.
The problem does not happen with the games I've fully purchased and installed.
I will continue watching my system to see if the issue happens again, now that I have uninstalled all games I installed through my Origin Access Basic subscription.
- @singlecrow Im having the same issue
I had the same issue and solved it by following the below -
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
- @UKcsmoke I did clear the cache/temp files on my earlier troubleshooting. But now that I've uninstalled all Origin Access games that I installed from the vault, the issue is gone.
This tells me the issue is purely with Origin Access library games.
EA can either fix this or I can cancel my Access subscription, which I never asked for to begin with and found myself subscribed to it one day. Thought I'd try it and I thought it was pretty cool, until now.
Now I'm worried that if I unsubscribe, I won't be able to play my games that I fully purchased and have played for years, including BF4, BF1, and BFV. My subscription didn't renew one month and all my already owned games would not let me play because Origin Access subscription wasn't active. @singlecrowRepair all the games you have installed. I was having the same issue and it resolved it. Its super annoying but seem to work. I have access games installed as well.
- @singlecrow I don't have Origin Access but also experience the issue, so I don't think your theory is correct.
- @xNuc1eoNx Very good to know. It's weird. The only games I had installed from Access were Sea of Solitude, NFS Payback, and Unraveled Two. Once I removed those 3, the problem stopped. I might try reinstalling one to see if the issue comes back.
+1 to the list. This is happening to me in Battlefront II which I have through Origin Access.
I notice that the Origin client window seems to be disappearing/reappearing randomly every five minutes, or so. I'm downloading a game update right now and watching the client -- and randomly the window will just disappear (as if someone closed it with the window's close/X button) and then 2 seconds later it will reappear. I think this might be what happens while we are in game and causes the system to dump us out to the desktop.
Not sure though.
I don't think it is. It happens repeatably to me on Apex Legends and that game is free to play. Its even happening to me on games not on the Origin launcher like CS:GO and GTA5. It will just make the launcher pop up ontop of anything I'm doing on my PC. I wish your theory was the case but I don't think it is considering I uninstalled all of my origin access games and I still have the problem.
It is truly sad that this thread is from 2015 and its 2020 and nothing has been done to fix this i already disabled all notifications and at the moment have 0 friends online and about every 15 minutes it tabs me out. it is appauling that EA more and more doesnt listen to its community and flat out refuses to fix issues instead of giving us a so called "work around" its insane that the gaming industry keeps going the rout of ignoring there communities that are experiencing issues and just ignores ALL of us that spend our hard eaned money on them only to recieve either half finnished products full of bugs EA Activition and valve are clearly at this point only into taking money from us and not responding when we have issues. im paying 15 a month just to get tab out of any EA game every 15 mins its pretty much unplayable.
This problem just started for me two days ago. Automatically minimizes when in games. Also, Origin opens up by its self (not full size) when in another app. WTF is going on here...?
I am having the same issue, It started today, I have origin that pops out for no reasons, and when I'm playing it minimizes my game! This is unacceptable, I will not renew my subscription if they don't fix this launcher.
I have the same issue since monday or so. And it's super annoying. If i close the Origin app, the problem just dissappears. But then ofc i'm not able to play any of my Origin games.
I've cleared the cache yesterday (link below how you can do this) and i don't had this problem. But today i have the same issue again. EA please do something with this. It's really annoying.
Link to clear the cache. Maybe it helps someone: https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
The Cache fix did nothing for me. This sucks...
Origin minimizes in a game and opens randomly when not in a game.
- @Vodka0tter I saw some one "repaired" every game so I tried it and guess what - for now, it worked.
Just FYI... Since last Origin update, April 2020, I keep being poped out of full screen mode, not because I am receiving notifications, but when I reselect full screen window to get back in game, chat pop up window informs me that chat is available. Being pulled out of full screen mode many times during a game is most frustrating and that happens only with Origin. Will try to clear the cache
The problem i had:
Hey guys i started having this problem about a week or so ago it started by just minimizing while in the menu's waiting for a game but the past few days it gotten worse where it would minimize in a game usually in the beginning of the match (never minimized end game no idea why).i have been telling my friend and they just kinda brushed it off at first as it wasn't making us loose games and also didn't bother me to much but when it started to happen more frequent i had to get a solution my one friend then told me that in origin he sees me online but playing another game (unravel 2) so that was a starting point for my trouble shooting but was not sure what to search for on google so i started by just searching for origin that minimizes and results are limited some people want you to edit files im not comfortable with editing as one wrong move could break your entire computer so i didn't even attempt it other solutions say play in borderless windows which didn't work the game would still minimize but as its a window i would still see the game but cant move as im not actually in the window so i turned full screen back on so i at least know i was minimized so i can get back in ... long story short it was not fun and seemed like there was no solution my friend then gave me this link to this form saying to try and repair all my installed origin games i did so not having high hopes as the last game i was repairing then still minimized my game but then upon close inspection he also cleared his cache file so i did that as well and bam no more minimized game
Solution (atleast from my computer i use):
1.repair all your origin game you have installed
1.1 very simple just in origin click on the game
1.2 click on the setting cog wheel
1.3 and click repair
should take a little depending on your hardware
2. once that's is done test it out see if it still minimizes as that might work already if not clear your cache files
2.1 just a few comments up is the link on how to clear your cache file but here it is again for convenience
https://help.ea.com/en-us/help/faq/clear-cache-to-fix-problems-with-your-games/
once you have done that boot up the game again and everything should be fine
thank you very much to VodkaOtter and Dasavior_bb
HOPE THIS HELPS OUT SOMEONE ELSE HAVING THIS PROBLEM AS WELL
I cleared all the files recommended to clear the Origin app cache
That did not solve it
I disabled all notifications for friends and chat
It all seems that what may be the solution is to disabble the app of conneting to the game
Just played a Fifa game, no more pop out of full screen and having to reselct the game window to continue, worked just fine, like before
This also happens to me. Origin minimises all full-screen programs every 5 mins exactly. It does not happen if i turn origin to offline mode however. Which leads me to believe it is somehow treating one of its sync processes as some kind of full-screen program which wrongfully takes precedence. Someone missed a /silent somewhere 😛
None of the recommendations have worked and it also first started since the latest origin update. In the Origin app, there is an option of allowing Origin app to connect to a game, disallow this one, I beleive this is what worked for me
Last night I played Fifa, Titanfall 2 and Battlefront 2 and no more being pulled out of full screen
