Apex lobby lagging/ freezing problems

Product: Apex Legends
Platform:Sony Playstation 4

Are you using any software with an overlay? No
Which Legend were you playing (if applicable)? I was in the lobby and I play many legends and the same thing occurs
Which Legends were your squad mates using (if applicable)? They play mainly bloodhound, pathfinder, lifeline. But I don’t think this is the problem
Where did the issue occur? In the lobby (waiting area before the match)
Which part of the map or menu were you in? If you don't remember the exact name, please describe the area or what you were trying to do in the menu. I am in the lobby when the bug or problem would occur
What were you doing when the issue occurred? E.g. respawning a squad mate at a beacon, using an ability, a squad mate left the game. I would start playing a few matches and when I return into the lobby it would stop and show loading, I cannot go onto anything except the lobby and the club feature
Did your squad mates also experience the issue? No
How many matches had you played in a row before the issue occurred? When playing with my friends it would range from 1 match to 3 then lag and stop working but by myself I could play longer sometimes even 5-10 matches and then this happens again
When did this happen? (dd.mm.yy hh:mm) This has been happening 2 days before the new update started and wouldn’t let me play like I used to before season 7
How often does the bug occur? Occasionally (10% - 49%)
How severe is your issue? Major impacts to gameplay
What happens when the bug occurs? I would exit a game or even start the game up as the first time of the day and it would not let me play any matches or even go to anything except the lobby and club page
What should be happening instead? It would work normal letting me play with my friends and not lag as much
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I don’t know how this could be fixed honestly, but I think possibly if something was changed from the update and caused this bug, I don’t know if other players have this problem but I can’t find anything in my system that would cause this problem, neither my connection since I used the same one and barely ever get lag I also did not see any other players reporting this problem so I don’t know if this is a public or personal issue but I would like to play the game normally again

Hopefully this could get fixed because I enjoy battle royals games and this is one of my favourites but I’m slowly losing interest in it because of this problem

    Would you mind if we try out some troubleshooting to see if we can help out with the lobby issues you've been seeing? When you've got the chance I'd recommend starting off with the basic connectivity steps from the EA Help website to see how that goes. 

    If you're still seeing the same issues happening after that check out the PlayStation-specific steps as well. Let me know how that goes once you've had the chance to give it a shot. Thank you!

    I tried the different things in your email about things for my system, I tried many different methods along with cold restarting, I also opened up a new account to see if it was my account but it happened when I joined my friends party again so I think it might be an issue with my system, but no problems come up for anything on my system. I play different games that also use wifi and I don’t get lag or any problems like I do with apex. I’m going to see if I could find anything wrong with my system but I find this a very weird problem.

     

    P.S if you find anything with my account or something that might’ve been causing the problem let me know.

    Thank you for following up!

    Is there any way you could try connecting your PS4 with a network cable instead, or is wifi your only option? I'm curious if this would still be happening if we can bypass the wifi connection.

  • it’s only wifi but I could try to see if I could connect my ps4 to my wifi box thing, but it is under my house and my room is a decent distance away from it but I could see if I could possibly be able to find a cord long enough to connect. But if not I’ll see if I could temporarily use a tv closer in my living room since it’s closer for this time but if not idk what else could be the problem since I don’t experience any problems on other online games I play hopefully it’s just connection problems

    Have you tried setting a different DNS on your PlayStation to see if that helps? I've seen some cases where using a different DNS can do the trick in similar situations. To change the DNS on your console follow the steps below: 

    1. Open up your PS4 Settings and select Network

    2. Choose Set Up Internet Connection

    3. Select WiFi

    4. Select IP Address Settings (automatic)

    5. Choose DHCP Host Name (Do Not Use)

    6. Select DNS Settings (Manual)

    7. Enter 8.8.8.8 as the Primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 as the Secondary DNS. This is the public Google DNS, but if there's a different DNS you would rather use instead that's OK as well. 

    8. Select Next, then MTU Settings

    9. Choose Proxy Server (Do Not Use)

    10. Select Test Internet Connection
