Upgrade to PS5 not possible (PS Plus required?)

I am unable to upgrade from my PS4 version of Apex Legends to PS5. 

The "Select Version" menu in the dashboard does not appear as it is supposed to. 

WIth the help of the EA support I have tried several steps a couple of times, none have helped to fix the issue.

  • renewing licenses
  • Disconnecting router & console from energy supply
  • Re-Downloading game
  • Trying to initiate download via PS App
  • Tried it with a different account

I am able to find the PS5 version in the Store, however I cannot download it. It keeps telling me a PS Plus subscription is required in order to download the PS5 version of Apex.

Whether I use the console itself or the PlayStation App, it doesn not work. 

I have attached a screenshot from the PS App, where it shows I'm unable to retrieve the PS5 version as well as the note that appears when I am in the hub of the PS5 version telling me I need PS Plus.

  • @JannLee360 FYI, I do not have an active PS Plus membership (I did have one, when the title first came out in 2019). I am also not planning on getting another PS Plus membership.
  • Bro, I have the exact same problem. I wanted to download the PS5 Version but it said that PS Plus is required in order to download the new gen version. I do not want to get PS Plus and in the end it is not working anyway.
