Personal opinion on footsteps(2025/03/01)
First, Apex players need to be aware that this is an FPS based on a battle royale. And, frankly, there's no need to drastically change the current specifications for footsteps.
【The biggest reason why it doesn't need to be changed】
If we made footsteps loud enough that they could be heard from distances that can't be heard in the real world, like in other FPS games, it would turn into a game where you fight while hiding. Even if you can't hide, it would become an FPS game where you have to search for enemies while walking, which isn't very exciting.
【Other opinions】
- It is natural that footsteps may be hard to hear or may not be heard due to gunshots, etc., so this is not a problem.
- The change in footstep sound depending on the height feels unnatural. It would be better to make the attenuation of sound depending on the distance up and down closer to reality.
- Personally, I have doubts about changing the volume of ally and enemy footsteps, but if it's well received by many players, then it's not a problem.
-The ease of hearing footsteps differs depending on the character, so this needs to be adjusted to be fair rather than being based on reality. Adjustments may be difficult, but I hope they will do their best.
-If you can't hear footsteps from enemies you can see, that's a problem. Complaining that you can't hear footsteps from enemies you can't see is a sign of a lack of Battle Royale skill.
