It's a stupidity tax, like all gambling.
Honestly, I'm not at all bothered; no matter how much Respawn paint these as 'exclusive', they're only cosmetics.
Sure there are social implications for their preying on the vulnerable, and they absolutely should be held account for such unethical behaviour.
However that's the job of the legislature to crack down on; as an individual it doesn't impact upon the gameplay one bit.
In fact, if you detest EA's business practices, the best thing you can do is ..... play the game! (and buy nothing).
It costs EA/Respawn money to provide server capacity, thus players who play but don't pay are a liability to their bottom line.

That's unfortunately not how F2P games work. They love free players, because the more free players a game has, the more whales it will attract. Whales don't spend a ton of money on a small or dying game.
