Fifa 26

This game has been in decline for years, and it’s frustrating for long-time players. Here are some key issues that need fixing:

  1. Defensive System: The defending mechanics are broken. In the past, you could press a button (like Circle) and reliably win the ball. Now, it feels like you have no control. Defenders barely challenge, and it’s too easy for attackers to get through.
  2. Through Balls and Defensive Positioning: Long passes behind the defense are overpowered. Defenders often just stand there like statues and don’t react properly or track the attackers. It completely ruins the balance of the game.
  3. Game Management Exploits: Players can score two quick goals in the first 10 minutes and then just hold possession for the rest of the match. It’s infuriating. In older versions, you could press with your entire team and apply pressure. Now, that option is basically gone, and it makes the gameplay feel passive and one-sided.
  4. Tactics and Team Pressing: There should be a dedicated team pressing option in the tactics menu—something that makes your whole team press aggressively, like in the older FIFA games from the early 2000s. Not everyone wants to play the modern, possession-based style. Give us tactical variety.
  5. General Game Design and Testing: It honestly feels like the developers aren’t playing their own game. While there have been some efforts to improve the tactical system, there are too many bugs and poor design choices. I’ve been playing since FIFA 2003, and the quality has noticeably dropped over the last 7–8 years.

  • People just like arcade and high scoring games. They need to nerf pace and buff defending. Defenders can’t keep up with all the pace and easy ping pong passing. They could at least make offense manual if they are going to keep buffing it.

  • FC26 won't be an improvement for one of several reasons.

    • They lack the ability to do so - the game is on an old **bleep** engine and all they have done is bolt on feature after feature. Eventually, it all starts to buckle.
    • EA aren't doing very well financially, compared to where they told their investors they would be. As a result, they are just cutting every corner they can to maximise quarterly profit.
    • They don't want to - they want you to be just frustrated enough that you might buy some packs and hope that this is resolved for the next game.

Before anyone says that this seems short sighted; EA are a short sighted company. They spend all of their money on maximising profits for shareholders. In reality, very little of the billions they make gets reinvested into their games + infastructure. My suggestion is to just move on. The devs that made EA what it is are all gone. There's no more passion for gaming here.
