SOLOS is coming to Apex Legends but not this one

In the latest patch notes of the upcoming season of the mobile version of the game, solos will be a new mode. Just goes to show how different the philosophies are between the two games and developers. The current explanation on why solos is still not in the game is that Apex Legends is a "team-based game" so I don't know what will be the new excuse. Yes the mobile version of the game is made mostly by non-Respawn devs but 70+ Respawn devs are working with mobile. They also have a regular deathmatch mode, a 1v1 mode in the firing range, and a better Crypto (drone can follow you) in the latest update. If I were Respawn, either make solos an LTM to test if it's still a good mode or exchange it with Duos as they're always concerned with splitting the playerbase.

Common criticisms of solos back when it was available in season 2
1. Too much camping. But this won't work now as you have a lot more recon legends.

2. Teaming is easier to do. This is the only problem that I can see.

More options and modes would always be better as I'm really feeling the BR fatigue after 3 years of playing Apex as my main multiplayer game. Really excited to try out overwatch 2 this week though.

  • @Cheese9Man I don't really care about solos but the "too many game modes would split the player base" is no longer an excuse. Put the other modes in and see what remains popular. CODs BR is by far their most popular and makes the most money but they still have all the rest. I'd even pay for the other modes.

@XHelperZI don't remember that but I do remember all of the teaming and hiding in corners people did. I want them to add solos just to get people to remember why it was bad.

I honestly don't think it would be bad now tho. The game has changed a lot since season 2. Plus I feel like it might make some people better TMs in team BR.

  • @hayhorIt was bad because instead of trying to fix it, they just pushed it under the rug and labeled it as a fail.
Teaming is an issue in any solo br mode, but games like fortnite and warzone are doing just fine with their solo modes. So why didn't apex? Because they didn't handle it properly.
In part because they refuse to make it so players are limited to a number of accounts they have, even if someone gets banned for teaming, it's simple to just make another account and come back and ruin the mode for the rest of us who actually want to enjoy it.

Currently none of the current game modes are what I consider to be 'good'. Of course I'm sure alot of people disagree, but for me apex has pretty much 95% percent of the time been nothing but a bad experience.

@XxColdFangxX I played warzone solos a bit. Saw teaming a lot. But it's warzone, the kings of allowing cheating.
  • Honestly, I think it’s really stupid to be forced to play with people who don’t want to cooperate. I hate games like this that force you to be buddy buddy with other people.

While I would love nothing more than a solo mode I look at it in a different way than most. Having been around during solo mode and playing it people often forget the horrible outcome it had on the game.

For one the game mode had teamers as mentioned. We are not talking about 1-2 people teaming we are talking about 4-7 people all teaming on a single building. The queue times are also heavily affected. While some say oh this game has no issues, people need to understand that this is apex legends. Totally different game and play style from any other game out there. We have abilities which created a very unbalanced system for a lot of legends having their legend of choice be utterly useless in a solo mode.

Then comes the biggest issue of all. I often see people complain about sbmm in apex. You are paired against preds and masters and some are only plat or below skill set. If this happens in pubs I often wonder how they would feel about half their solo lobbies being full of these players who will just wreck them. Then comes the issue of players who begged for duo game mode. Once the duo was released and no fill was added it was not enough still they complained. They were upset about the sbmm and how they stand no chance against these players. Well solo would be even worse. There are only so many players who fit specific stats they look for with sbmm. So if your gold + expect to be placed with some high-end players.

Then comes the biggest issue of all. On NA servers master/pred queues can take up to 5-30 minutes for a single match to finally be found. This is bad for the ranked scene as is. Instead you will have preds/masters who just want to run around farming lesser-skilled players and feel good about it. People may assume all they wish on how this game mode could and would work flawlessly but honestly it holds to many concerns to be thought most likely in their minds right now.

The game mode itself had a very negative impact on apex and this is the reason it has not returned or a permanent game mode. Even if people think they know whats best and they know it all and think its a viable thing to add. Those of us who was around during solo game mode when it first launched can honestly say what issues they seen with that mode and how impactful it truly was.

    @E9ine_AC

Posted like the Champion you are.

You could not have said it or explained it any better.

    I fully support your remarks.

  • If we have to pay for solos we should stop playing too. Because they get funded money everyday. Not to mention the battle pass. N tbh they could give more coins in the free battle pass. They bs.
