Cross platform Friend finding issue

I am on PS4 trying to add my son as a friend so we can play Apex together. He plays on Xbox. When I do a friend search he is not there. But when he searches for me he can find me. But when he sends an invite I don’t get the invite.

My friend playing on PS4 can find my son and invite him as a friend.
so all three of us join a lobby and we are able to cross play. But when I inspect his character, I see invite as friend but he never gets the invite and vise versa.

so right now I can only cross play with my son when my friend is playing.

trying to figure out the issue why I can’t add my son as a friend so we can cross play without my other friend.

we are both playing on the same network and the email for my PS4 account is the same for my sons Xbox account.

I have gotten friend invites from pc friends.

any help would be appreciated

thanks

If you log into the EA Account on the account management website you should be able to view the connected accounts. If you scroll down a bit on that About Me page you'll see a Connected Accounts section. That should let you see the console accounts that have been linked with your EA Account.
