My feeling is that the pressure to drive revenue within the org must be pretty strong. I don't get the impression that any of these franchises are really built for the long term. It seems more like once you get a successful property its a pump & dump to squeeze whatever revenue you can out of it, as fast as you can, because your racing against the new sexy that isn't out yet, but you know is coming. That being said, I would be surprised to see any significant improvement in infrastructure (since every $ spent is one you could be reporting as profit)... and since the player base is pretty flat right now and appears to be slightly declining I'm not sure how you make that case to management. I mean.. I hope it comes true.... I'd love to be wrong.
And if you want a case study on how declining platforms are handled.. just look at where Titanfall is right now and how much time and $$ is being invested in that property.
@MintyBatsnack As I've always said in my opinion when Apex is on form (with no performance issues etc) it is probably the best multiplayer out there.If Apex was to end at the end of season 9 & was no more I don't feel there is another game to fill Apex's shoes at the moment. There are some genuine rivals due out later this year with Battlefield 2042,the next COD game & Overwatch 2.Respawn have a pretty good track record when it comes to quality games & the devs have mentioned they have already laid out ambitious plans for at least the next 3,4,5etc seasons with future characters & maps already in the pipeline.Apex's future will ultimately be in EA's hands as they own Respawn & if reports I noted in my previous comment are correct about EA's 6 year contract leasing servers owned by Midway coming to an end then it'll fall on EA to continue on with the problematic servers which will inevitably lead to a further fall in player-base.Or do they decide to provide their own servers or lease servers more capable of dealing with the complexities of a game like Apex trying to build on it's player base.I just feel that it the game is still suffering from the same issues as it has done in season 9 when in fact nothing has changed I honestly believe the game will never see a season 11.I know plenty of players who got so frustrated with the long serving issues in season 9 they deleted the game believing nothing was going to be fixed.But I know (as I regularly speak to them) they will be back playing again if the game is genuinely fixed & I believe those same performance issues are the main reason the player base has seen a sharp decline.
I do think there is still plenty of life (potentially) in the game particularly as it traverses between the Titanfall universe.
