For those who wonder why there's no AI in Portal, it's because enabling AI in Portal forces the server to restrict as much XP as possible, this is nonsensical if Modifiers, Restrictions or the Rules Editor is untouched as this would make the Portal server identical to that which is found in "All-out warfare". The only difference being that the host decides which maps to play on and that the server is persistent.
The new Ground Superiority and Air Superiority modes force the XP to be Moderate, why? By default the game modes have ZERO vehicles in the game, so by adding them, the XP immediately becomes Moderate. I am so confused by this oversight. The "Restrictions" tab which is where choosing the number of vehicles is found shouldn't have anything to do with XP as they don't affect difficulty but vehicle numbers, honestly the only time there should be an XP reduction is when certain scenarios occur such as disabling Stingers and RPGs but allowing Vehicles, is it difficult to set Portal up to recognize such imbalances and apply restrictions accordingly in these scenarios? I don't know. As it stands, Portal quite simply punishes hosts for attempting to host a server that makes up for what "All-out warfare" lacks.
It's simple really, I want to host a fully vanilla server that is identical in nature to "All-out warfare servers" with DEFAULT AI, on both Portal Maps and Standard Maps but I can't. Because the XP restriction system is absolutely nonsensical.
AI and the Rules Editor are currently the only options that affect XP gains. So if you notice that changing other Restrictions are impacting XP, that sounds like a bug to me which I'll flag with the team to check out.
I've also forwarded the request to enable AI use so the team can review for further options.
@Straatford87 I’m pretty sure what the OPs trying to say is that before the season 2 update went live & revamped the UI and how Official Portal modes worked, there were like 3 modes (air/ground superiority counting as one of those) that were official dice portal game modes (the main modes that display on the main portal tab, weekly) that 1.) allowed bot backfilling when you joined, 2.) didn’t have a “x amount of players required to start” restriction & 3.) it gave full xp/full mastery xp/mission progression even though it was a match full of bots on both teams. Seems like an obvious oversight that was in game since launch, but was noticed by DICE at some point then it was finally “fixed” for season 2, effectively removing all of the official portal game types that had bot matches and full,xp across the board. And no, it clearly wasn’t a bug as you said in a previous comment. Your DICE devs obviously have access to features that the community does not, so clearly, you can enable full bot matches and still allow full unlocks, xp, weekly mission progression and weapon progression. The way it was setup was like it is in AOW… when there isn’t enough human players, the server back fills with bots. All this was doing was giving people access to matches full of bots because it wouldn’t put human players in due to crossplay being turned off… and honestly, that’s how it should be.
