Dynamic resolution might be optimized for 4k resolution. Which might explain why 1080p looks better because it evenly divides into 4k.
I would try turning off dynamic resolution in 2042 settings and see if that makes 1440p look better.
Played 1080p up until recently and can say that 1440p looks so much better. What monitor and settings do you run?

@Lady_One & @OskooI_007 Vsync is on (was always in 1440p too), FFR and dynamic res off (just as in the past). DR would be noticeable, if the general Windows resolution was 1440p and the ingame 1080p. When I played 1440p it was identical so when switching to desktop during the game (ALT + Tab) I'd see the desktop right away.
Now it understandably changes from 1080p ingame to 1440p on desktop
@sk1lld Dell S2722DGM settings are not really important besides Vsync, FFR or DR in my opinion.

All this seems really intriguing.
Your monitor's native resolution should have been the ideal one to play with.
