Just to clarify the point that @Psubond is making a 50mm is nearly 2 inches in diameter as opposed to a .50 cal which is only a half of an inch in diameter.
HUGE difference.
Now you only have to get a feeling how big an 'inch' is. 😉
50mm == 5cm, so this is intuitive, but 2 inches. :P

i'm sure the grain measurement confused some people but i'm a hand loader so that is how my brain is wired for ammo. 7000 grains in a pound, 2.2 pounds in a kilo if you care to do any conversions

I think I can live with inches. I know my gaming monitor is 32 inches and some variable part of my body is between 5 and 6, so I have some comparison to judge length measurements in inches. :P
But PLEASE! don't start with Fahrenheit. I guess I will NEVER be able to wrap my head around that one. 😉

oh we're going there! F to C is easy. subtract 32 and multiply by .5556
i work in a lab in the US, i have to know both ☹️
