So if they can optimize it some more all is fine for me.
And imho it is not easy to implement ond optimize the older games into the new engine (Yes BF1 and BF V are also having a DX12 path in the engine but the main game is designed for DX11)
See you on the Battlefield
@CountSeroIf it's DX12 only, then performance can be significantly higher than a DX11 counterpart. If they haven't updated their engine to work well with DX12, it will run like garbage which could be the case.
I get a lot of stutter when there's nothing changing in the scene which indicates back-end bloat which is not optimized. I stutter down to below 35fps consistently. Meanwhile, if we run PerfOverlay.drawfps with a value of 1 in the console, my GPU frames don't stutter and are almost double my cpu frames.
No one is asking them to move over the other games. I'm talking about 2042. It only has one renderer (DX12) and one change to a new engine version. It's a complete mess.
See you on the Battlefield.
Edit: Their quote about performance: "For all of you playing on PCs, we want to acknowledge that many of you are finding that performance of the game is presently CPU bound, and not enough of you who are fortunate enough to enjoy high end GPUs and CPUs are seeing the benefit of consistent, high frame rates. Identifying engine level optimisations and developing solutions will require a lengthier response time from us so that it gets done right. Short term, we’ll be doing all we can to help offer performance improvements that reduce the load, and up your frame rates where possible. We’ll keep you updated on our work through our Battlefield channels." Found here: Battlefield Briefing - Launch Update & The Road Ahead
- CountSero4 years agoSeasoned Ace@LeMairyHuff I don't have any stutters or framed drop it runs fine for me so there is no problem for me. But i know that some poeple have these issues.
But as I have written before the game needs some performance optimization because the utilization of the graphics card is on most systems only around 50%-60%
But we also need to consider that the PC has hundreds maybe thousands of possible hardware combination and some combinations are not working well if the system is pushed to the limit.
So, I would say yes, the game has issues but how many issues are also caused by aged, defective or bad configured systems? How many are still using an HDD? How Many have only 8GB of ram?
These are also all thing which can cause performance issues if you using high or ultra-settings and is not caused be the game itself.
And imho BF2042 is a very demanding system, with the destruction and details which are in the game in combination with 128players on the maps, BF 2042 is pushing many systems to the limit.

What game are you playing? Detail? Destruction? Load up BF 1 and there's the detail and destruction. 2042 has none. Mostly bland textures and a few walls that can be destroyed. Also if 128 players is too demanding why did they still release the game? Stop making excuses for a subpar release. Also, this isn't only about performance issues. This is releasing a half finished game with half the content of previews game for the same price. If the missing "legacy features' dont bother you, well maybe you just never played the other BF games before? In anyways, I get that some are enjoying the game as is, from my BF friend circle I can tell you that no one is playing it. And lastly, the good old "PC has hundredths of maybe bad designed systems blabla" is rubbish. 2042 beta was a week long. A WEEK. They should've done a month long beta way before release. That way you can get the most urgent bugs taken care off. They didn't They knew it was not ready yet still released it.- CountSero4 years agoSeasoned Ace

And yes, you are right missing "legacy" feature are not bothering me at all and yes, I think this is not influencing the gameplay.
mmh let me think, I started around 2004 so I was late to the franchise and I only played these Battlefield:
(The games are in the order which I played the games)
Battlefield Vietnam
Battlefield 1942
Battlefield 2
Battlefield: Modern Combat (but this game didn’t catch me)
Battlefield 2142
Battlefield: Bad Company (xbox)
Battlefield 1943 (xbox)
Battlefield: Bad Company2 (xbox)
Battlefield 3 (on xbox and PC)
Battlefield 4 (PC)
Battlefield: Hardline (PC, didn’t catch me and I also was late to the game)
Battlefield 1
Battlefield V (which was gifted to me)
Battlefield 2042
So yeah, I never played BF before.
But hey guess wht, I spent already more time on your post than you deserve.
And I think, in future I will safe my time and ignore you and your perception.
Be nice, play fair and see you on the Battlefield

@CountSeroWhen you have to release a statement about the game concerning performance, it's not players hardware. If other games run good on the system and have comparable configuration (drive etc), you can't blame the hardware as is my case.
It doesn't matter what settings I pick, Low or Ultra, my fps is pretty much the same, which should not be the case. That's not how games are designed. There are LOD systems, scripts which handle debris count, texture resolution, physics simulations, light count, the list is endless.
Let's not forget that this post by DICE was released within the same week as game release. These problems haven't just developed because of players use of their system. It's quite clear the games internals are a mess.
See you on the Battlefield- CountSero4 years agoSeasoned Ace@LeMairyHuff since then, there were some patches and I think it was after patch 3 which changed that my CPU is now utilized for 100%. (i7-10700k).
And I don’t have denied that we need some more performance patches especially for the graphics card.
But I'm still the opinion that not all problems a game related.
See you on the Battlefield
