It's definitely different, me and my buddies have been having a ton of fun, despite all the apoplectic predictions.
I think vehicles vs. infantry is in a pretty good place, still kind of early to really tell until we all get some more playtime in. Vehicles aren't running rampant (I am talking about 128 player Conquest BTW) but are still very effective at least from what I can tell.
Like you, I HAVE seen a bump in engineers repairing, reviving and ammo boxes being dropped.
Breakaway re-work is indeed VERY nice, so hat's off to that team!
And your list of proposals, 100% agree on each point, only thing I would add is that adding the claymores to the game with super-bright lasers was a bad idea, it is effectively making them useless.
As far as saying this game is on par with BF1 or BF4 I don't know about that, but everyone is entitled to their own opinion.
Feels different and not in a good way

My go to is rao and stinger. You class people whined and now thats gone. Cant use angel and soflam. That was another favorite of mine. Gone as well. Same with angel and at mines
Like I said before I wasn't really on-board with changing things this late in the games life and I get all that about preferred playstyle but it's kind of is what it is now.
So, I'm just going to keep trying to enjoy myself and adapt and overcome, I guess.
Changing the controller players setup was a bad move too, you're right about that.

- @Psubond What's up with the controls? I've been playing and didn't feel any difference for a couple of days. Only 1 extra gadget slot.
And the exploits of using any gadget with any class is exactly what caused absolute chaos balance-wise.
Sure its cool on paper when you can pull off some combo with a class. But in reality, it introduced a whole train of balancing issues and gameplay loopholes
You fly a heli and there would be a next of Angels sitting on top of a loadout crate with infinite rocket launchers.
Play a tank and everyone would switch their gadget for M5 and you'd be dead in an instant.
That also killed any variety in the game. You said it yourself. You would be playing Angel because he had OP loadout crate, or Rao because he had that stupid hack/smack combo
Many other specialists were left out of the equation simply because they lacked any meaningful "combo setup"
Now its fixed and everyone has to play a specific role. This brings more balance and variety to the game. You can't just camp somewhere with an infinite rocket launcher all day (Unless you're Lis) and shoot passing vehicles.
Yep, don't come in here much. If they wanted to do Classes, they should have done it from the start. New controls are an abortion. Took a break from COD. New season starts soon. Back to COD I go with no doubt a whole bunch of other frustrated BF players.
The changes are just too dramatic for a game that's been out this long. I've been playing BF since BF One Desert Combat. This is by far the worst update they could have ever done.
New weapon systems is what we want. Not, old ones.
The big one about the Classes. We had more to choose from. Now you just have four. Bad luck if you like to cross over to TDM which needs a infantry gear set.
Anyway, super disappointed. They've wreaked a good game, after it just became stable for me. Do they not realise a lot of console players have limited space for memory. I have another two terrabites, plus two and half more extrernal. But, most will only have what the consoles came with. With the massive gigs games out with the days. You only have one choice when don't have the room, and you don't play that game any more because the developers wreaked it. PS4 players will be the first to go...last time I played on those servers because PS 5 players cant play on the same servers as people with just PS 4s, it was a very bad experience. Very slow...lots of lag. Could never go back to that. These will be the first victims of all this. Why play a faulty slow game, when COD runs just as quick in PS 4 as it does on a PS 5, and it's full cross play?
Good luck with it all anyway...if it's changed back, I may come back. I'm waiting for the VR2 to drop later this month. So, I'll be cruising in Gran Turismo 7 for a while.
Way to wreak a what was becoming a good game for me, EA.
