Add voice chat and scoreboard

Hey everyone,

It seems the world is slowly becoming crazy. I can see it clearly in the gaming industry. I mean, I could never imagine that a communication-based FPS shooter will have no Voice Chat it the game. Especially in modes such as "Hazard Zone" which is literally based on squad team play. DICE, can you please tell me how am I supposed to tell information about enemy's position to my squadmates? Is this a joke? Have you ever played this game yourself? Am I supposed to write it in the chat in the middle of the fight? huh?

I could never imagine that a competitive shooter... COMPETITIVE. COM-PE-TI-TIVE. Once again C.O.M.P.E.T.I.T.I.VE... won't have a classic scoreboard where I can see who is doing the best, where am I placed, how many kills I made compared to others. I have a hysterical laugh when, for example, I want to play Portal TDM and can't see a proper scoreboard. DICE, this is literally the reason why people go TDM - to improve their skill and compete with other players on who's killed more and etc. After I read this article, I have decided I will never pre-order any BF game ever again: https://poptopic.com.au/news/leaderboard-lobbies-voice-chat-removed-from-battlefield-2042-for-toxicity/

I admit you got me with that rendezook trailer, as I thought you finally heard what community needs, but I was fooled so hard. After I read that line "...was made to make all players feel as winners in each game" my mind was blown away. All players are winners. ALL PLAYERS ARE WINNERS!... Can you believe that!? Let me clarify that: so, in a competitive FPS game there are no losers, there are no players that are better, there are no players that did better than others, everyone is equal and everyone should feel satisfied with how they performed in a competitive first-person shooter. How about motivation to improve your gameplay and aim? no? not needed? If your intentions are to remove toxicity from the game, I'd recommend you to remove guns from shooters, why not?

Once again, do you even know what is Battlefield? Please don't call it battlefield if it has guns in the game. I can't imagine you can't remove someone from your squad or choose a specific squad or lock your squad, so a random guy doesn't spawn on you and steal your vehicle or ruin your plan on being stealthy or sneaky. EVERYONE IS EQUAL - EVERYONE IS IN THE SQUAD! Server browser... just really painful to talk about.

Also, you can't communicate with the enemy team via chat, they did it again to prevent toxicity. I don't really write in the chat, but how about simply banning those people who are toxic and how about teaching lightly-hearted people that the world has bad and good people and you don't have to take some random dude's insults personally.

RIP true Battlefield!

P.S2 Sorry guys for the long post. I've always been a huge BF fan, I am just really disappointed about the game, as of right now I am forcing myself to love this game, but I can't, I give up. This is #NotMyBattlefield

  • DICE/EA, here is what means competitive:

Competitive games are those in which players play against one another and where one player winning means another player loses.

  • @romanntic Kind of hard to tell your squad the enemy position location when DICE didn’t even put North, South, East and West on the minimap as well as on the HUD.

It’s unbelievable how bad the UI really is.

    @romanntic

That article uses words like "allegedly", "it was reported", "the insider said", etc.  To me, it's obvious they're stirring the pot.

Now, I'm not saying it's excusable for EA / DICE to leave out voice comms upon release but I think some "sources" are jumping to conclusions based on assumptions, rumors and unofficial sources rather than solid proof.

Personally, I've seen several credible news sources that have reported that while voice chat will not make it into the game at launch, it was / is planned to be added after release.  When DICE spoke to Polygon on the topic before the full release, they said this:

"DICE didn’t explain its reasoning for excluding voice chat from Battlefield 2042’s launch, but the studio did say that it is working on the feature and that it should be added soon after release — though the developer didn’t specify when that might be."

.....and EA/DICE Community Manager Kevin Johnson said that voice chat would not be available until after the 11/19 launch.  He recommended that until the feature is added, players use third-party apps on PC like Discord or parties on Xbox and PlayStation consolesBattlefield 2042‘s developers are planning to update the game with in-game voice chat shortly after launch.

Why it didn't make it into the game at launch is anyone's guess but I think it's clear that the intention is / was to add it after.  As to when or even if that may be?  .....who knows.

....and yes, perhaps there were other ulterior motives for keeping it out of the game at or even after launch but again, I see no evidence either way and haven't seen any official sources that have mentioned anything different.  If you have those, I would appreciate seeing them because it would be nice to have a definite answer to this question.

Personally, I think they simply screwed up and the voice comms wasn't ready.  ....could also be an issue with comms between platforms (PC vs. console) but again, that's just speculation.  ...then there is the real possibility that the article you posted isn't as far from the truth as I think it might be.  In either case, EA / DICE has to address it officially at some point and that is what I'm waiting for.  It's nota big deal for me as I use private chat with friends but I know it's an issue for a lot of other folks.

  • My friends and I are not playing the game because of this ONLY reason. We can get by on the bugs but without voice chat, this game is trash. I don't care that other people have found a way to talk. I care that it should be as simple as Warzone or Apex to communicate. My friends and I love Cross-play and cross-play game chat. We should have to beg for a staple function for games. Fallout 76 to Grand Theft Auto have voice chat. EA needs to fix this.
