You might also want to play around with your settings and so on in solo matches against the bots. They won't be the same as a real player, obviously, but should be fine to practice against.

How do I set up a match against bots?
- cornybbq23 years agoSeasoned Ace@Vanch333 Change the game mode from 'online' to 'solo/coop'. Then choose difficulty and the map you want to practice on.

Agreed, dial everything in via solo games, even dial in the ground and air vehicles against the bots...
That said, aim assist is horrible in BF 2042 versus other EA games such as Apex where even the pros are running controller on their PCs during tournaments. I know PC players often think aim assist is "OP" for BF 2042, but I have BF 2042 on PC and Xbox Series X and aim assist is non-existent on Series X versus other Xbox games I play online. I do pick up on a slight accuracy buff via head shots, but aim speed is better on M/K for me personally.
For console, I'd suggest getting the best controller you can afford, such as Elite Series 2. Then use the software setting tweaks (non-linear joystick accelerations, hair trigger pull, etc that is available via Xbox controller settings with elite controllers), and switch to paddles as taking the fingers off the thumb sticks is going to decrease both aim accuracy and speed when you are jumping and sliding and moving while shooting, etc. Paddles are under-rated yet I understand it is painful and takes a few weeks to get use to paddles, but totally worth it...
