@DuaneDibbley all I can think of is the game was supposed to be something completely different than the normal Conquest, Rush, Breakthrough game modes. I think Hazard Zone was one of them, but there may have been others where VOIP, Squad Management, Server Browser, Scoreboard, etc were not needed.
Then at the last minute, they had to completely shift from whatever they were planning to what we got. That's why maps feel so clunky in some game modes and because they probably threw in the spawns and flags in the final hour. That's how you end up with a flag on a tower in BT.
I also think the performance hit with 128 players in testing forced them to keep the maps to a certain geometry limit; that is why the maps are so blank.
So I don't know if it is a contradiction or just a change in direction. To me that is the only logical thing that could've occurred because there is no way they worked on this game for 2 years.
