I thought they were heading in the right direction during S2 but it seemed to have gone downhill since then IMO. I appreciate they have decided to release an S7 but I don't think I have played much since S5 or whenever they introduced the squad changes. I feel they missed a big opportunity with Portal. Maybe I hyped myself up too much about Portal. They left a bad taste in players' mouths in regards to disabling XP gained in Portal early on in the game's life.
They still use 45Hz servers (in 2023), no AOW server browser, and factions still look exactly the same because of Specialists. Outside of that, netcode/TTK issues are still there and I thought their decision to add dispersion to all weapons just randomized the game even more.
I am glad they worked on critical bug fixes and addressed things like keeping your crosshair in the center of the screen, but they dug themselves such a massive grave upon launch, that even after two years of live service, we are still below ground level imo.
It seems like every season we get let down or disappointed with the lack of content. Then get our hopes up with anything that exceeds their new bar.
The only hope is that they have taken notes and can actually apply lessons learned from this launch and game so they don't make the same mistakes. My fear is they won't, we have had a whole bunch of surveys, posts on here, on Reddit, in Discord, and yet they still either ignore the community or do something that no one asked for. They excel at being tone-deaf.

Some bugs have been fixed many still remain, 45 Hz servers, no rental servers, no server browser, missing squad tools, can't tell friend from foe "Same uniforms", cross play, and why can't I join a game with more than 3 other players or pick the server I wish to play on to name a few.
No, my opinion remains unchanged.
- ATFGunr2 years agoLegend@Adamonic You summed it up well. C for effort, F for final product. F- for Dice and EA management.

Right now, EA and Dice are working hard play testing the new "maps". But, in reality no one really cares and just wants a new BF game like the previous titles. Or they want such a big overhaul of BF 2042, that's not going to happen.
I watched some old BF trailers and all I can say is WOW! What a massive difference, from AAA game down to AA game. What went wrong?
EA and Dice are in their own world. They hear, but they don't listen to the the players of their games. Too be honest It's actually quite sad, I feel sorry for them. To turn an amazing franchise into a pile of ruble with just this one title.
To answer your question though, you summed it up quite good. They fixed a lot of glitches, but the glitches should have been adressed sooner. It's like they didn't know what to do and just kept stalling, because they couldn't make up their mind. They had to rework like every single map, that's awful. To top it off the game is over two years old and there are only 13 maps and only a couple of them are enjoyable.
The game is playable and enjoyable, but not really an actual BF of what everyone is used to playing. And the sheer lack of content is mind-boggling.
Where the game is now, is where it should of been two years ago. It's too late now, unless their going to support it for another two years.

No, my opinion hasn't changed...well..wait ..it has..but not in favor of this company.
Even tho they might improved things en did some fixes, it came way to late for me.
The lack of communication and ingnoring their players is totaly unheard of.
I totaly lost fate in this company, and in my eyes this game does NOT! deserve the name Batllefield.
I realy wonder if they can deliver a proper game in the future.

They probably added bloom to cover for the horrific netcode because EA and the devs must think the player base are idiots.
