I think it's sad that everything around the Battlefield franchise nowadays is focused on bringing in more money for EA.
Money, money, money.
- Game released too early because EA's executives focus way too much on the short term and on how to increase revenue there.
- Game has Specialist because EA's executives have spreadsheets that say it's a good idea so they can sell as much cosmetic items as possible.
- Game has no Server browser because EA's executives have surveys that show player retention can be increased via SBMM and that other term I forgot what is (which is not possible if people can freely pick which server they want to play on) - and increased player retention equals more cosmetic items sold etc.
etc.
etc.
Specialists were a way to grow the game. I doubt a few cosmetics were going to help their account.
Doesn't need a browser. I hate trying to join a game that fills by the time I enter. Random join is just fine.
- 3 years ago@DPsx7 Man you are the definition of Mediocre, and you definitely were the demographic of players they were hoping to get rich off of…………. But as we all can see it didn’t work out well for them nor US traditional BF fans.
- 3 years ago@OldSkoolzFinest Lol, horsecrap. I don't buy that MTX stuff. DLC only rarely. Hell, I've been playing Rocket since they gave it away free on PSN and I've yet to give them a cent.
I'll take the free stuff and whatever I can claim through gameplay. If they think I'm breaking my multi-year streak of not using PSN credit (I buy physical games) then they better keep 'hoping'. - Ironhead8413 years agoHero

Random join is just fine. That is probably the worst take I've seen on here in a long time, playing with a large group of friends is an unnecessarily difficult chore in this game because of the random matchmaking crap they've saddled us with.
Not to mention the repetitive nature of getting stuck playing the same 3-4 maps on a loop most of the time, with no control of which map you want to play, it's always just a roll of the dice.
Not having a reliable way to play with more than four friends or pick which maps we want to play (based on map/ping/location/rotation etc. etc.) has decimated any sort of community building that existed in prior BF games, and many long-time BF players/Clans/Platoons have opted out of BF2042 altogether for that very reason.
I suspect the reasons server browsers as well as persistent servers are missing in BF2042 is
- 1. Control (can't have the players deciding who, where, when and how they want to play now can we?)
- 2. Cost (big companies like EA have shown time and time again they will shaft their own players to save a buck or two)
- 3. To test if the player base will accept it or not and then ultimately to try to implement some sort of SBMM like COD has and if THAT comes to fruition, it will probably be the final nail in the coffin for the BF series for myself and quite a few others.
Battlefield games NEED a server browser and persistent server, period, full-stop.
