How is the heli life after the railgun for you btw?
Hey all,
With the Season 3 Update we've made a major change related to vehicles through the introduction of new Vehicle Categories:
With the reworked allocation of Vehicles, you'll notice different availability between maps and modes.
In Breakthrough this means that we've made the decision to remove Jets and Attack Heli's from play for this mode. Air Transport remains available, but due to the linear layout of Breakthrough we feel a focus on ground warfare offers the best gameplay experience. In our observation we also noticed that Air Attack was overly dominant in this mode, while having little room little room to navigate due to the smaller and linear layout of Breakthrough.
Conquest will still have all vehicle types available for play if you're keen to jump into Jets, or Attack Heli's.
Lastly, we understand this is a change to gameplay and will require getting used to. We'll carefully continue monitoring how this plays out, and we're open to your feedback about how you feel the new Vehicle Categorization is playing out now that Season 3 is available for play.

Terrible changes IMO. As a Breakthrough only player, why can't I enjoy Air Vehicles as other mode? Given that Jets now have their own category, it should make a decent anti-attack Helicopter farming on Breakthrough.
I don't see how this is a problem, when there is literally only a single Air vehicles on one team (excluding the occasion Transport heli) ?

Not happy with the new change at all. I agree with OP here. I'm usually a breakthrough only player, and I'm not fond of Conquest since Battle lines can shift all over the place. I wanna be able to fly Attack Helis and Jets in Breakthrough. Doesn't have to be all maps but maps like Orbital, Hourglass, Breakaway, etc are better with attack helis/jets in mind since they are much more wide open for Stingers to be able to lock on to aircraft.Attack Helis/Jets are good for countering tanks since Tanks require Wildcats or Stingers to be protected but now it seems Tank players are going to have a field day with this new change since Transport Heli doesn't have good anti-vehicle weaponry on them. It's gonna be based on how many dedicated AT players to kill the tanks which are less then few.
It's a game of Rock Paper Scissors, and the design decision basically removed Paper to defeat Rock.

@Straatford87isn't it time for Dice to start exploring the possibility of balancing vehicles differently for breakthrough type modes?
Attack choppers with their current firepower, counter measures and manoeuvrability are always going to be OP and ruin player experiences in modes where large groups of enemies are concentrated too close together and the players always knows which direction the vast majority of the enemy are. - 3 years ago@Straatford87 How are you, I would like to give my opinion, I met battlefield in BF1, and I loved the Breakthrought mode like you have no idea; Yes, I have tried the QC mode but I think that it does not give the immersion that advancing through the map achieving ground achieves; I've seen BT work with air and ground vehicles on the same time without any problem, I don't see why now in 2042 BT should only be infantry, I think this only encourages tanks to stay as far away from the front.
I sincerely hope that we can have all the vehicles available again in BT or, failing that, that we can have BT on the portal.
I am a player with more than 1500 hours in each of the last BF, I really enjoyed BT's 128 mode, unfortunately every time they take away more of the things we enjoy and it amuses us hybrid infantry and vehicle players. I do not deny that at the beginning there was a lot of farming, but I think that now there are many tools to neutralize helis or jets. The focus should be more on getting the player to work as a team and play the objective and less on maintaining a player base that only cares about recovering their own health without equipping anti-vehicle tools. The proof is that a lot of medic players don't even revive
I hope this can be modified, I think they have given too much to infantry and have forgotten hybrid and vehicle players.

i'm fine with this (no attack helos on breakthrough) solves the stealth helo bomber issue when rao loses stinger.

PS congratulations on the new vehicle categoriesI've been calling for them to add BT to portal ever since they went and removed 128 players from it. For whatever reason they continue to hold the mode hostage instead of providing the players the tools to play the mode how they want. BF currently lacks a large scale combined arms objective focused mode.
- 3 years agoI think that the breakthrough mode to delete the attack aircraft is the most wrong approach, the advantage of air attack is indeed too great, but it is not directly removed and handled in this way, and Battlefield 2042 that does not deal with the air power on the ground will lack gameplay, what about the big battlefield at the beginning of the release? Why do you prefer the experience of foot combat players, and vehicle imbalance is not considered? Aren't vehicle players worthy of playing? This is Battlefield, not Call of Duty! So I asked to add the flying attack to Breakthrough mode as soon as possible.
- 3 years ago@Straatford87 Balancing aside, this change will lock out many low-end pc players away from air vehicles. There are a lot of players who choose B64 because they can't run 128 player matches on their PCs. Right move would be returning helis to most of the maps but not all of them.
Also making helis harder to play is a must.
Stealth should get 30mm gun removed together with anti air lock ons.
Nightbird should loose rocket pods and 25mm
Apache should stay as it is but buff its gunner and give him the option to run one AGM and one anti air rocket.
Many players complain about lack of AA but there is planty of options. - 3 years agoI just want to know when the flying attacker will return to breakthrough mode. If this is impossible, I will be very disappointed. I am very disappointed with Battlefield 2042

Yep, it sure was especially in Breakthrough. Nothing like trying to defend a point and having some "skilled" pilot hovering over it out of range of any counter just raining bombs down over and over.
I wouldn't care if the added the other aircraft back into BT but leave that damn Stealth parked in the garage!

So disappointed about that.
I don't understand why it s a solution to remove the helis.
It's BT!
Some of maps ok , but not all.
It's seem Battlefield start to loose sense.
Common, you Dice make this game very better, don't destroy the soul of BT.
Please bring back helis in the most interesting mode.
We want Battlefield game please!
- 3 years ago@Straatford87 Noone asked for this, noone! You remove attack air vehicles, but you keep Wildcat... WHY? It's useless for transport vehicles only. There are zero complaints about helicopters being too OP, balance are good because of Liz rocket which one-shot em'. As Breaktrhrough player who does not like Conquest (one from many), we tell you now, bring back Attack Helicopters and Jets!!!

I'm a level 328 Breakthrough & Rush player. These are the only modes I can stand to play in 2042.
Conquest in 2042 is absolute rubbish and not at all enjoyable like in BFV, BF1, BF4, etc...because of the vast distances.
This change literally killed all my enjoyment of Breakthrough. A decent attack air tipped the balance and allowed Attack teams to actually win.
Now attack winning a game is ridiculous. Attack air has plenty of counters with the Wildcat, 40mm LATV's, FXMAA's, G84's, Rao hacks, Recoiless + Spotting, etc....
I never saw a single post wanting this change....Vehicles have been well balanced for months, the only tipping point being maps like Kaleidoscope where C2 is almost impossible to capture (the flag zone needs to be extended outside)

This is a terrible mistake. I cannot stand conquest with 128 people. the game just doesnt flow well. Hopefully they will bring back 64 conquest because I enjoy flying helis and jets and I really hate that my only option is a terrible 128 conquest. The solution is quite simple. Instead of just removing the air attack vics they should make sure both sides have them at all times. The fact the attacking side would get one and the defending until one or two sections later wouldnt was pretty stupid. Because ever minute instead of just farming defenders on a flag the pilot would now have to dog fight incoming vehicle. Regardless of my solution, I do hope they bring them back to breakthrough or bring back 64 player conquest.

You have two main game modes, Conquest and Breakthrough. By removing attack air vehicles from Breakthrough, you have literally removed air attack vehicles from 50% of the game. The ONLY reason I play battlefield and have since Bad Company 2, is the air attack vehicles. The vehicles are what make this game different from every other generic boring shooter out there that only has infantry play. Why would you take the key aspect of your game that makes you different and attracts all sorts of other "bored of infantry play" gamers and just completely remove it from half of the game? This decision is absolutely ludicrous. I pre-ordered this game in excitement. I didn't give up on this game even with lackluster releases and continuous horrible reviews. I have stuck by this game since it came out and defended it against slander. This ill conceived notion to just completely eradicate vehicles from fifty percent of PVP play is most likely going to be the last straw for me and many other players. I honestly don't even feel like loading Battlefield up anymore, for the first time since last year when it released. To those who would say just play conquest: It is so very boring compared to breakthrough. There is no sense of progression in conquest taking the same post over and over again. I just can't believe the devs think this is a good idea. I mean why not just take air attack vehicles out of the game completely? Then you can be just like every other mediocre 1st person shooter competitor out there.
