We raised these malfunctions to the EA/.DICE team already in the first technical playtest period and also again in the beta testing period. And still the game launched with such sub-standard audio functionality. The Dev team and sound engineers that made BF games famous for their audio unfortunately all left the studio, with the last leaving during the BFV game development cycle. And its obvious that the new employees in this area are not skilled to the same level as the old experienced team was able to produce this game in. (or they were not given the time and resources required, to get the job done to 'normal legacy' Battlefield standards.)
Current sound universe is like shallow and one dimensional only. So no spatial awareness with proper 3d sound scheme as we had in previous Battlefield games. Likewise, many of the weapons and vehicles are just very poorly replicated with their audio in the game. And as you note, its like we only get a few select audio tracks coming through to us while in game, so no depths or breath of the full scenario we are in, in the audio feed we get. And the audio is a very important aspect of supporting the submerged gaming experience in first person shooter games.
Which all is again making this BF2042 game come across as a half-fabricated cheap BF game versus our previous experiences in this game franchise.
These are two of the more disappointing things about the game (along with no Server Browser).
For audio, the spatial thing gets me every time. In other games or previous titles I could hear someone before I could see them, especially in close quarters.
For hit reg, I have no clue what is going on. It feels like a huge desync. If we could choose the servers we play on, we could at least guarantee we have a good ping to the server. I wonder what tick rate the servers are?
The hit reg is worse because I know for a fact they are putting people out of region and that’s why hit reg has changed to allow more lag compensation for their higher ping!
It’s barely playable for me with 15ms ping
