Erm... git gud?
Forget we are talking about air vehicles and let's just talk in general terms. If any one thing in the game is balanced such that you must be an absolute master of it to do even moderately okay with it (as you are suggesting should be the case in your posts in this thread) then it is clearly UNDER-powered.
Let's also consider that the majority of these games where a Scout Heli or Attack Heli Team dominate the round occur on a select few maps where cover for the heli is plentiful. The ones from BF4 springing straight to mind are Siege of Shanghai, Dawnbreaker, Flood Zone, Zavod 311, Sunken Dragon... Even Zavod is not really great for the heli pilot if the enemy MAA is even moderately competent. Most maps offer nowhere near as much cover and it already takes a skilled pilot just to keep the heli in the air for any significant amount of time.
Balancing the whole game around a select few maps is how we ended up with the massive nerf to the engineer class by them making resupplies for explosives (including all launchers) impractically long all in the name of limiting explosive spam on just 2 maps (Metro and Lockers). The best part is it was minimally effective. Those maps are still explosive spam city if you don't seek out a no explosives server.
Finally, let's not forget that if it's as simple as "popping countermeasures and running away for 10 seconds" whenever you are threatened you could always get in your teams heli/jet and counter them on completely equal terms...
So, in conclusion, please re-read the first line of this post.

Helicopters definitely need to have far weaker defence, irl choppers are weak as kitten burps in terms of defence. But at the same time I also think the problem could be a result of too many ground troops just ignoring air vehicles. Too many times I've had to ask people to help me take down a chopper cause I'm the only one even trying. But as soon as two or 3 people target any air vehicles they are fooked. Just too many people ignore them and carry on blindly dying while trying to shoot other ground troops.

The way I see, the problem was always have jets and Helis on the same map. Balance AA against jets, Helis suffer. Balance AA against Helis and they won't even tickle jets. And then there were Scouts with 25s......
No matter what happens, infantry often suffer.
BF1 was about right although who ever dreamt the heavy Bomber needs sacking! But this, in my opinion was the ability for small arms to damage Air. It should be noted that given the AA rocket gun was pointless against anything but Air and it had to be bipodded to use, it's initial nerf was totally unessecary.- 4 years ago

I honestly can't relate to these people who say they get farmed by helis and jets constantly.
It is irritating when you're in a tank pre-occupied with enemies on the ground and then the enemy heli or jet shows up and wrecks you but c'est la vie...
- Trokey664 years agoSeasoned Ace@No1StingerUserUK You know as well as I do that when Air is in the ascendancy, ground need to 'git gud' but when AA is in the ascendancy, it suddenly becomes unbalanced and 'unfair'.
