Banned for asking for a refund

So EA banned my account for requesting a refund for BF2042.

This was after I created several tickets with EA (with no response back from them)

Now I can't access ANY of my EA games. (BF5, Madden, etc.)

How is this fair???

I started with contacting EA.  They did NOT respond back to any of the open cases that I created.  At this point my only other option was to dispute the charge with my credit card. (not a fraudulent) as others have claimed.

i don't know how long you have waited but what you have done is for EA a fraudulant behaivour.

here the part from there web page:

Contact us for help before you submit a chargeback on your account

If you are entitled to a refund from EA please contact us. Our processes are set up to ensure that all rightfully claimed refunds are granted. We automatically lock any account where a chargeback is requested to prevent fraud. If your account is locked due to suspected fraud, we’ll send you an email with more information, including how to contact us if you think your account has been locked in error.

as I said before that are expectation what in your opinion the game should be, beside bugs (as every BF game before) the games run fine for me and many other (constant 60fps with vsync, Ultra Settings, 1080p). I find games in less than 10-20 second here in EU. So, there are enough player to fill the servers here and i play on PC without cross play.

And what OP has done was breaking the contract with the chargeback and this is for EA a suspected fraud.

  • I base it on past battlefield releases when we still had bfstats.com and the steam numbers which are the only numbers we have.

Steam alone has approx 20,000 to 30,000 during peak and that doesn't include Origin which people tell me is the preferred way to play EA games.

PC made up about 10% of BF1 online playerbase as posted a few weeks back.

And then of course we are just talking about peak. There's people constantly leaving and joining throughout a 24 hour period.

35,000... no offence but I really don't think you know how any of this works.

  • While the steam numbers do not represent the overall number of players it is still a very good indicator on how the game is doing. And ever since the release the numbers are declining. This weekend was an exception due to the free to play weekend. But even that did not attract lots of attention.

So to sum up, the game is bleeding players and it will keep bleeding. I mean there are players and there will always be, but for EA and DICE the numbers are way below expectations. At no point during its life cycle this game could build any momentum. And as we all know, there is only one chance to make a good first impression.

It launched recently and now it is slowly dying already. There might be some peeks after new content launches but on the long run there is nothing to look forward for.

  • Maybe read my posts.  I did try to contact the merchant EA in this case.  They never responded and just closed any case that I opened.  (I created 4 cases that they closed with no response)

  • I created 4 tickets with EA.  They just closed them.  No response no nothing!

As a consumer I then elevated it to my Credit Card company.

  • @PrivateJoker0013How is it fair to ask your bank for cash back ? Then pretend to be a victims ?

Anyway if you hate the game why would you care to be banned ? uninstall and call it a day ... Next time Think before you act ! You deserve to be banned .

@PrivateJoker0013  but still there are questions open

when you have asked for a refund and when have you bought the game? where the request more than 14 days after buying the game?

How many hours have you played at the moment you requested a refund?

It is easy to complain that EA has banned you after requesting a refund because this is not true.

They have banned you because you have done a charge back.

And when they closed your tickets with the request for refund maybe it could be that you are not eligible anymore to get a refund.

So here another quote from the link I posted before:

You can make a refund request:
    • Within 24 hours after you first launch the game.
    • Within 14 days from the day you bought it, if you have not launched the game.
    • Within 14 days from the release date if you pre-ordered the game, if you haven't launched it yet.
    Whichever comes first.

And if you still think you have the right to get a refund look up the phone number from the EA support and maybe give them a call so you can speak to a real person.

But at this stage i think you have missed this chance by doing a chargeback and you paying the price because your account is now closed.

@Stew360 he didn’t care about BF2042, he cares about the situation that his account is locked\closed so he is not able to play his other games anymore.

I'm the same opinion as you, so he missed his chance and now he is paying the price.

Chargebacks are different than regular refunds and them resulting in bans is common practice across all platforms and games.

This isn't a threat like some people say, just a simple piece of advice/warning: it is HIGHLY recommended you do NOT try to go the chargeback route - worst case scenario for waiting is just losing a single game, not the library. Creating multiple tickets for the same issue muddies the waters and is probably why cases keep getting closed; it sucks but you just gotta wait for them to process it on their end (as you can imagine, tons of players are trying to do the same things so the list is rather large)
