yeah i am not buying it until i see action.
remember after chapter 4 in BFV they promised the same thing and to listen to the community, yet they went and changed the TTK another two times against the wish of basically all players in thr forums, in fact i am sure not a single person asked for another entire blank TTK redo...

Buying what ? He said nothing but a single sentence .. That X and Y will interpret the way they want . ALso the guy is a " narative " director and not a gameplay director . Also if they were to change fundamentally the game inside the base game .. they will loose all the millions players who play the game everyday and love it .. They cannot fundamentally change the game at this point .. All they can do is a better job for it to make sens ..
Like remooving corny lines at the end of the match . Making specialist more serious and more enbedded into the game to make more sens and look more like the exodus type of thing .. But specialist and loadout system of the base game is here to stay and its not a narative director who would change any of that . But if he could make specialist more grounded and less corny it would be appreciated .. if they can evolve the narative and world to be better then it will be a welcome change ..
If they can create some somewhat story driven stuff that enhance the game or create some more unique game modes etc.. it would be amasing .
But peoples interpret whatever they want from a single sentence and those interpretation are wrong and bias left and right ..
BF2042 is the work of hundreads of peoples and designers . and after playing a lot and i can say a lot nearly 350 hours now and having play every single BF games ever . I can stand behind the change and the specialist and loadout system . Its simply better than the old system .
What need to improove from a design perspective is LObby size to matchmake .. Team composition we need 16 players lobby combosed of 4 squads of 4 , We need a commander or OIC with VOIP broadcast , we need command VOIP chanels to coordinate with other willing platoons /squads etc.. this is what is lacking in the battlefield franchise since matchmaking was introduced in Bad company 1 .. Since then the game was focused on 4 man squad only gameplay wich as created more individualisme or more " squad individualisme " and as decreased team cohesion .
If we can have this below in BF a command structure and system similar to MAG and bigger lobby , BF2042 teamplay and BF as a franchise teamplay will be in a better place than ever before in its history

Interesting video, thanks for sharing. I agree that it's probably too late to turn BF2042 around, but it seems like new leadership plans on taking the franchise in a new direction.
I'm looking forward to it. See you guys in 2 years!

your stance on the loadout system has been noted and if you like it go, my statement literally never mentioned anything about that here....
all i said is we have had the same talk and statement from people working on BFV for example and the moment they said it they tossed all the promises to the curb and kept digging their hole deeper and deeper....- 4 years ago
@X-Sunslayer-X
I was not refering to your own statement but to the dozens of videos one of wich is linked into the OP . Where peoples think as if he was agreeing with them on the whole " classes vs specialist " debate and so many unrelated topic ..
The guy is responsible for the narative and integration in the game .. He is not a designer for game mechanics but more of someones who draw inspiration and context where devs and designers create mechanics around ... Like i said the only thing he as agree on was that the game shouldnt feel like a " Circus " and i hope he also agree that the current corny lines specialist does should be remooved or changed ...
that more story driven stuff should be introduce giving context to new modes or to create the " TITAN " mode context and justification leading to 2142 iceage type of stuff .. the Final stand BF4 DLC had 2142 " prototype and a titan under construction .. all this lore could be used to serve BF2042 and remoove cornyness and not regress the gameplay back to worst ..In this BF4 Map from Final stand you had 2142 Tiitan under construction in the hangard i hope we will see drop pods and titan eventually comming out with amasing narative driven sequence to introduce them
And here the titan mode if you are unfamiliar with it

Talk is cheap!
And from the EA/DICE marketing BS machine we got plenty of that in recent months, up until launch of the final product.
And it was evident to all what a terrible poor shape and mess it was in.
And nowhere near to be able to offer a gaming experience it was all hyped up to give us.
Its been a devastating poor launch so far, we have less than 10,00 players remaining in daily gaming on it now, just a few weeks after launch on Steam. Even after a free week of play also on some platforms. The list of most critical items to get fixed to bring this back in just basic shape is very long and so far no messaging or actions to be seen so far from EA/DICE to even addressing them.
Their announced season upgrades and new contents to come in March is way too long for most to wait for.
We may risk this is indeed the end of this franchise if not getting serious fixing done by EA/DICE before then, as most players have already moved on to other games.
- BFB-Praetorian4 years agoSeasoned Veteran@CyberDyme How do we know there's 10,000?
I've been struggling to work out how large the player base is with only Steam to go off.
I was about to pick a PS5 copy up for £30, which I think is a fair price for the game.
But if it's tanking even harder than I thought then I'll hold out and see if I can get a bargain.- 4 years ago
I think Steam-stats is pretty accurate and even if you add some to it its still a very small playerbase for a new AAA game - and still dwindling ; Battlefield 2042 Is In Such Horrible State More People Are Now Playing Battlefield V On Steam - YouTube
@Stew360 Those Happy Clappy pills you use, can I have some ? You really remind me of Baghdad Bob back from 2001 who is in totaly denial of the current state of (insert topic here)

This is basically my stance with Live Service in general. The instant a company announces a "live service" game, you can expect that to mean "early access" and at least a year before it will resemble a complete game. And in the case of EA, they don't even follow through. They cut Battlefront 2 after 2 years and BFV after a year and a half. So basically, they are saying "live service" but sticking to the same delivery cadence as Premium Pass...just with maybe half the content.
So why get this game? The 128 players and Portal, neither of which have panned out well. But I also didn't go in expecting long term play. I was fine if a month or two was all I got with all the games on the way this year.
As for sticking around for this new direction? No thanks. I think Battlefield's best days are behind it, and other things will be coming out. We are at the dawn of a new console generation. Who knows what we will be getting or what new direction games will take.by the time they get the next Battlefield out.
At the same time, I won't say never. Maybe it falls into a neat window like this one did. Or maybe I just wait 6 months to a year like I have done COD in the past when I got tired of it.

@CyberDyme DICE/EA have yet to announce when Season 1 is dropping. That info came from a data miner and should have been taken with a grain of salt.
