Battlefield 2042 last gen backwards compatible?

Is the Xbox One version of the game also backwards compatible on Xbox Series consoles to play with friends on last gen?

    @Jo5h0und the Xbox Series version of BF2042 is not backwards compatible, so you're not able to play with friends which are still on Xbox One with this version.

    (reason is different amount of MAX players and bigger maps to handle) 

    🙂 Good news: Even tho, there are Cross-gen bundles of the Battlefield 2042 Editions if you check it in the console specific store.

    Which means if you get a Bundle of those, it includes a Xbox Series and a Xbox One version of the game.

    You can install both versions on the Xbox Series, and play either with New-gen or Old-gen friends depending on which version of the game you'll start up.

    You are not able to play with friends on last gen consoles no matter what. This is what I was told by EA help

    I'd be curious as to whether or not they actually said that there is no solution whatsoever because in actuality, there is. 

    Some people are really getting confused by this but it's really not that complicated....

    @Its_Travis_199pretty much summed it up.  Next gen versions of the game come with both last gen and next gen copies of BF2042.  Let's use PS as an example....  If I buy the Standard Edition PS5 version, it will come with both the PS5 version of the game and the PS4.  Now, I am not able to play the PS5 version and link up with friends on PS4.  I will have to load into the PS4 version and then I can play with my friends on the same gen console.  This goes for XB too.  

    IIRC, the next gen copies are even marketed as a "Cross-Gen Bundle" now.  I think where some confusion started was that EA originally didn't offer cross-gen in their standard $69 version of the game for next-gen consoles. You had to buy the Gold or Ultimate(?) Editions to get both versions of the game.   ......but that changed and now the standard, next-gen edition for $69 contains both last and next-gen copies.
