I've made a post already, but one thing that I hope has changed in the map making progress is forgetting designing these maps for hazard zone / BR. It has become extremely clear to me that all of these maps are so massive and designed so weird to encourage the HZ gamemode, in some way. They were then adapted to fit breakthrough and conquest, and poorly, which is why we are where we are today. This worked in the past to a degree, since maps would be designed for Rush or other push/obj focused gamemodes, and then adapted to the more freeform conquest, resulting in maps with pretty good objective flow, cover, engagements, etc. Any future maps, and especially these remakes, should forget even WORRYING about hazard zone. the gamemode is dead, it had zero going for it, it almost seems like it was shoehorned in, which is strange since the maps were clearly made to support some gamemode like that. Remove it from the main menu, remove it from your minds when designing future maps, remove it from the game, it is just such an awful gamemode with no purpose in this battlefield which is a real shame, as I had hope for it. Hazard zone is a huge part of why we are where we are with these maps, the reception to this game, and the awful experience of infantry and vehicle balance on every single map. I've never seen a purported major component of a game bomb so hard, and I thought firestorm was the top of the leaderboard on that metric.
Presumably, Hazard Zone is dead internally, but I would love to see some confirmation that we don't have to worry about a dead gamemode dominating future map design.
It is a little ranty, but truly, hazard zone and BR-style map design is why every single launch map is pretty much in an unacceptable state. We shouldn't even have to design these maps for you.
