To be honest i'm really scared reading their new announcements. It's like if they didn't understood at all any feedback we've been pushing for months. Who the hell is in charge of 2042, everything is just turning into a huge nonsense.
It seems the rework of the map is primarily based on "move objective and main base locations". Why not but the proposition they made the new layout simply make 50% of the map pointless, everything now happen in a small portion of the map. This is NOT a solution !
They traduced the fact that the maps are flat land as, need to create a path that people will follow between objectives. This is not what the community said. Maps are too flat, lack of COVERS. Creating multiple "pathes" that has cover between objectives is necessary BUT please don't resume it in single line.
Also cover can be simply made by adding visual obstructions on the maps that are too flat, this is a simple fix. Add trees, rocks, vehicles wrecks. Done, visual obstruction.
Linked with what just said, they also seems to either have poor knowledge on current FPS market (military style), or poor creativity. All they are proposing is to reduce the combat into a linear path, reduce the players amount, reduce map size. Which is contradicting also the fact that they said the current gameplay is too nervous. If you create a small tunnel effect it will make things worse.
You can have 150 persons on a server if the layout is good, if each zone of the maps has visual obstruction that hide you from the others, if objectives are spaced enough, it's not a problem !
They said people complain Breakthrough 128 is a mess. So their solution is to remove 128 and only keep 64. Come on .... !
Breakthrough problem is that the map is not exploited at all, and objective are literally next to each other. We have a huge maps but the 128 players are forced in a super small zone. Of course it will cause a mess. Remove those super small zone restrictions. Space out the two objectives.
They should play Hell let Loose, Squad, Battlebit (when not server full) etc... to see what reals solutions are.
