Battlefield Portal Battlefield Bad Company 2 Feedback

All in all, I think Portal is amazing! The Bfbc2 integration of portal is pretty great. It's a lot of fun and many many details were faithfully recreated. However, there are still some details that Ripple Effect didn't get right and as a long year fan of BFBC2 those stick out. Some of those points will seem pretty pedantic, so keep in mind: I LOVE this mode.

First, I'd argue that even most good changes in newer games shouldn't be applied onto the bfbc2 integration. It's part of the experience that some elements are a bit rough in Bfbc2.

For example: There has been no sniper glint in Bfbc2. It might be a good addition of Bf3 and BF4 but it was not part of BFBC2 and shouldn't be in there.

There has been no "in combat protection" for spawning. It actually is pretty frustrating if you can't spawn at any squadmate. Due to the small maps in Rush, it can happen very quickly to be marked as "in combat".

One BIG concern: The grenade launcher has not been faithfully recreated on BFbc2 weapons. If you use the nade launcher in BFBC2, it makes a very loud THUMB sound and results into a pretty big, dangerously effectful explosion. That's maybe not very realistic but it was fun. It was a one hit as far as I remember. The nade launcher of Portal is .. not nearly like that. The explosion radius is far too small, the FX effects are far too weak. I also think that it applies not enough damage.

Additionally, the nade launcher was refillable by ammo boxes. I don't know whether this works in Portal. I stood a while next to my ammo box, and nothing happened.

(And yeah, it's a bad balance decision to be able to refill your own nade launcher but that was the case in BFBC2. Consequently, it should be replicated :D)

One art concern: The red dot sight is wrong. The current red dot sight of Portal BFBC2 has a way too small red dot. I'd argue that it's too small in all modes but BFBC2 had an orange red dot that was pretty big. I'd bring that back.

In the end, there is another big problem: I fear that the pretty strong bullet spread/bloom of BFBC2 is also present in BFBC2 portal. As far as I remember BFBC2 didn't have nearly as much spread on its weapons. It's very hard to hit foes with full auto fire on larger distance in Portal BFBC2, that has never been the case in BFBC2. (Start it up, if you don't believe me.)

For the future, I hope that Ripple Effect will bring more weapons and maps for BFBC2. 🙂 I'd bring back the UMP and F2000 for example. Those two were pretty iconic.

When it comes to maps, I have very fond memories about Laguna Presa, Port Valdez, and Isla Inocentes.

Oasis and Atacama Desert were fine, I guess.

I don't remember much about Harvest Day in Rush.
