DICE did say in their developer interview video that along with air drop vehicles, there will be empty vehicles scattered around the map for people jump in and use. It sounds to me like they're moving away from spawning into vehicles from the respawn screen.

Except I’d guess all players can call in vehicles, not just squad leaders. Not to use COD as an example, but I get the impression that each player will earn points and vehicle call ins would be a sort of reward you can purchase with the points. If so, my question would be, can we spend our points in other ways? Like maybe “buying” things like spawn beacons, artillery or bombing strikes, fortifications, etc.

I prefer to do that rather than compete for vehicle spawns at the spawn screen, but understand your concerns. I still plant mines underneath vehicles whenever I have the chance, nothing like getting a kill confirmation 5 minutes later when someone jumped into the vehicle. Feels like you're special forces. I've learned over the years to check vehicles for C4 and mines underneath because of those deathly mistakes.
As for camping vehicles, you generally never saw it happen too often to warrant a concern. I remember doing it myself on Gulf of Oman where I camped the Middle Eastern Coalition's jets with a sniper rifle pointed right on the cockpit, so the moment someone got in I took the shot. 90% of the time the player would respawn and tried to hunt me down. I relocated as a sniper (as a good sniper would), only to kill them once more. Eventually, they would tell their buddies how irritated they were at me camping the jet so you had 4-5 people suddenly rush you at once and that was the end of that. Good laughs.
If I sat over there all game doing that I would call myself a camper as that's not really my game style, but temporarily restricting them from getting control of their assets is fair game to me in the art of war. They either need someone to defend the base or be aware of someone behind enemy lines at their base. Like I said earlier though, Battlefield players are pretty good at spreading the word on what's happening so those type of issues are cleared up pretty quick.
As always though, stay tuned for more official details on how the vehicle system will work. Always good to raise concerns like @TankerFlanker's so the development team is aware of what behavior the community is anticipating.- rainkloud5 years agoSeasoned Ace@EA_Blueberry I too have fond memories of infiltration missions and adding "care packages" to jets as they headed off into the wild blue yonder. But times move on and unless its tied to a game mode where the base is capturable we need to have bases safely nestled into OOB territory. Especially with air combat we need to give players a fighting chance. Having your air assets insta gibbed means there's considerably less opposition for the enemy and having control over the skies often means bad news on the ground as the effects trickle down. You end up with too many non competitive games.
If you want to build a map or mode around that mechanic then that's fine but for traditional conquest players need some breathing room otherwise you end up having to devote resources to base defense which isn't terribly appealing and sort of detracts from PTFO.
I hope we still have BF3/BF4 style spawns in addition to being able to enter them from the ground. If not, I think you'll actually have people waste MORE time waiting for a vehicle rather than less as try to run from position to position to get one. Let's hope that we can also update our vehicle configs even if there are no vehicles available. There's zero reason not to be able to utilize that down time to prep your loadout and it wastes time having to do that once you have tapped the vehicle icon like in BF1/V

- 5 years ago@OskooI_007 I personally hate that idea. Why the * would a M1- Abrams just be hanging out somewhere lol. Waiting on its date to arrive? I'd rather have it like the good old days. Vehicles spawn at the bases.
