I would say so cause the game will then (either after a restart or after playing a match to synchronize) recognize your premium ownership and give you the rewards that you already passed at this time.
I can't confirm it myself tho as i bought it right at the beginning already.
If it wouldn't work then the premium upgrade bundles shouldn't continue showing up for you in the store as soon as you passed one of the premium rewards.
And if you would have the issue that the game doesn't give them to you even if it should, there is still the EA support to contact.

Well, that is how I understand it now, with@UP_LordPlumber 's info here:
Also with that info in mind, I guess this ingame info about premium should be understood that way too.
I guess, when the season 6 comes I will just try to buy premium at a later time than right when it's published.
I'll see what happens.
But what still intrigues me is the fact of there being 2 premium versions at different prices, one which skips tiers and one that does not.
I don't really remember for the last season.
I will pay a close attention to that when season 6 arrives.
Not buying the wrong premium might solve all issues.

@SharpGoblin if you buy it a later time tho, you miss some time that you can make use of the 20% XP boost you get with being Premium owner. Cause this one runs during the whole season time.
So if you make use of it during the whole time you play while season is going on, you get an extra 20%XP boost for everything you earn while playing. That also helps your overall player lvl 😉

@SharpGoblin and yes there was for sure two versions to buy for Premium upgrade for Season5. The one that skips 20 Tiers and the one that doesn't.
