BF 2042 and eye strain

Hi all.

I was playing BFV today. It’s well known that the game has huge problems with visibility. After a few games I had to quit because of eye strain. I was wondering if DICE have mentioned if BF 2042 will be different?

I mean robot dogs are 128 players are cool and everything but how are they addressing the problems that made BFV a failure. I don’t think my eyeballs could take a repeat of BFV 😢

  • Hopefully Temporal Anti-Aliasing or some other Vaseline smearing effect isn't forced on us this time. It's such a shame that artists take time creating beautiful masterpieces, just to have TAA blur the textures and image clarity to mud.

  • @BURGERKRIEG I agree with the fact that, although visually awesome, the visibility was garbage in BFV. But PC players do have a little advantage in that area due to the fact that adjusting a few graphical settings removes a lot of the visual bells and whistles, helping the player see better.
  • @BURGERKRIEG I think JackFrags mentioned some visual clarity differences in his gameplay reveal review... but I might be making that up.

Visibility was a gigantic issue in V, I can only assume the team is working hard to make sure it doesn't persist

  • @BURGERKRIEG I'm not sure if this will help you or not, however, one way to fix your visibility issue is to mess with your FOV (field of view). If your FOV is too high or even if it's too low that can mess with your eye sight.

For example, Some games start off at a FOV of 70 and cap at 110. For me, the magic number is generally between 90-100. Too high and it's like I'm looking through a glass bottle on a curved monitor (my monitor is just a standard, normal, 24" 144hz 1080p monitor lol). Some people needed it lower, some need it higher than me. Just depends on your eye sight as well. I'm 15/20 IRL, so if it's too low or too high I get serious eye strain or headaches on any game.
  • Please notify if any changes in settings might resolve this, only played for 30 minutes and my eyes are messed up. Thanks anyhow :-)
