I take it most people haven't played the BF that was free to play on PC back in the day.

It makes me laugh that apparently there's so many people don't like 2042 and it's specialists but yet Portal is dead. They have their old Battlefield there but why is nobody playing it? Doesn't make sense unless we now live in a world where no matter what you have, folk like to complain.

No they killed progression because the usual exploiters created XP farming servers.
Turns out most people don't want to play dated battlefield games when they have a brand new shiny one to play instead.

Because the BF3/BC2 factions have everything unlocked for them, there is no progression what so ever. We can't use the 2042 era stuff either those factions. The classes are still stuck in the 2042 mindset of only having one gadget slot for us to pick from..
You have to buy into the battle pass to get a persistent server, the list goes on.
2042 might be a fun hero shooter...but it is a disgrace of a Battlefield game. Hardline is better, just on principle because it still had the traditional Battlefield formula. Same with 5...
