BF2042 is now going to get clobbered by the COD Vanguard release
Both as an investor in EA and also as a vivid BF fan, I am not amused by the poor excuses we now get from EA for the go-live delay on BF2042!
And we are several in our venture group that are concerned about EA BF2042 now loosing the first-mover advantage, as COD: Vanguard is scheduled to release on November 5, 2021. Similarly available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series S/X.
Die hard BF fans can keep claiming that they don't care about COD and that its not the same. But matter of fact is, that a large volume of potential BF2042 customers are now instead starting out with buying a competing product and may never return. And those that do, will at best come weeks or many months later. The mass volume that should have been the bread and butter for the BF2042 revival from day1 of release is now smoldering away.
Honestly, it is a disaster in many dimensions and we are not amused.
Personally I do not play COD at all !
I find that the COD game is more for the individuals, while the BF gameplay has much more in it about the team work and collaboration. Likewise the BF mechanics comes across to me as being more technical and sophisticated. Without offending anybody, guess its OK to say that the learning curve to master various elements in BF is also much higher. All which I personally enjoy the challenge of!
But many many play both. And especially on PC, there players have in average many more games and play a higher variation of games across aka a month compared to the console players.
And as we all noticed, many gamers were complaining about the BF2042 game price now for GOLD or ULTIMATE editions. Finding it too expensive. So its not like everybody just have unlimited money to buy whatever new game comes out next week, if just having spent $60 on COD Vanguard this week.
So I am not concerned about many of us here on this forum. Many surely in a privileged position, with excess resources to get through the day. But that is not the profile of the vast majority of BF2042 buyers. And they are all instrumental to bring in the cash EA needs to keep adding exciting updates to the game and run servers across the globe for all to get a great gaming experience.
A botched start is not helpful and they had 3+ years in the planning to prep for this. So yes, I am a dedicated fan, despite big disappointments with BF1 and BFV. And yes, my expectations were high for this next venture, thx to EA's own communications to get this one right!
Reason for my disappointment that EA stumbled just before the finish line and they appear to have learned nothing from previous communication breakdowns with their player base.
(thx for allowing my venting, as we all want the best of this next game! 😃)
