Ultra realistic movement with things like stamina and very limited scaling of obstacles would suck. Apex Legends style movement at ultra speeds with no fall damage would also not fit. BF4 was pretty good except for the limits on scaling walls and no slide mechanic (run to prone kinda worked), IMO. Yes, they ran like crackheads and never got tired, but that didn't bother me.

Depending on who you ask , no sliding is a good thing.
Any surface other than ice or a soapy wet and glossy floor, do not offer the ability to slide for more than few centimeters

@UP_Hawxxeye I'm firmly in the camp of no sliding. Not only is it a ridiculous concept for a soldier in combat it is always highly abusable. I've never seen the addition of sliding to be a positive thing in any established game franchise. Unfortunately I saw a reddit post from a dev where it indicates sliding may be in 2042. :-(
- carsono3115 years agoSeasoned Ace@ragnarok013 Yeah, I think there is an image of another player sliding in the gameplay reveal somewhere... but I could be mistaken. Oh well.
- 5 years ago@carsono311 Thinking about it running round in circles sliding failed, knowing DICE they’ll double down on that and add more aerobatics in 2042. I think there were players climbing in the trailer too.
- 5 years ago@UP_Hawxxeye your can slide on loose soil, water on a floor, mud, grass, sloping ground and even twigs.
No, I'm not talking a few centimetres. You just need a friction less surface, something with small item can be just as effective as soap suds.- cso77775 years agoSeasoned Ace
@DingoKillrThe problem with sliding is that you can slide while running and it doesn't really slow your movement in any way. Being able to slide and keep running after the slide is what makes it awful.
Sliding is ok, but it has to have some penalties, such as stopping your movement (after the slide) and then needing some time to 'get back up' from the slide.BF1 had sliding, which after some patches, worked ok.

What do you think guys about the movement system in BF42?
It will be similar to BFV (BF4 maybe) or completely new?
