BF2042-UCAV

Not sure if you plan on adding a version of it in 2042 but can you give it a counter? In BF4 it's the only thing that doesn't have one. You can't destroy it with MAVS, can't shoot it with a stinger, can't shoot it with a gun, can't kill its user since he can fly these from the comfort of his base, you can't hide from it either because i've seen some people more dedicated than others fly this in Metro and Locker. You can't ''git gud'' all you can do is suffer trough it.

I don't mind its existence in fact i'd rather have them in the game that's why all i'm asking for is a way to counter it. Even hackers have one(fairfight).

    HI @817chPl34se ,

I feel your pain, as see often silly campers on RU side on Metro, camping in spawn despite their team has both A and B flag.  and still they just camp there in spawn with UCAV non stop to fly the UCAV in through the Metro building into to kill the poor US enemies trying to get up the stairs far inside the building...  Luckily this type of abuse is the exception and personally we ask such players kindly to engage in the face to face combat as intended on a CQC map and not camp in spawn 24/7 with their toys when their own team has the two flags still ahead.

However, when out in the open then the UCAV can actually be taken down.  If you are good, then you can shoot it down.  And the 100% sure counter measure to the UCAV is the engineer's AA mine.  Place the AA along the UCAV's travel path or near the frequent targeted end point, and the AA will counter when a UCAV comes within range.  Yes it takes some teamwork to keep the engineer equipped with new AA mines, as does everything good in Battlefield.  But the engineer gets the AA mine replenished much much quicker than the long waiting time the Support needs to wait for a new UCAV.

Those are not sufficient. Switching to AA launchers locking is far to long and AA mine are stationary with a too short of range.  The MP-APS should have been the device to counter UCAV but it was failure too in its role and function.

To shoot down the hitboxes are to small/fast for most guns in BF.  A true counter device could be to create like an anti-drone gun, improve the MP-APS or increase hitbox/decrease speed of the UCAV.

Whilst I accept the frustration when it does happen, it happens so infrequently that it is not an issue for me.

  • I can't remember the last time I got killed by that thing honestly.

Pretty sure a MAV can destroy them just like mortars.

No unfortunately not  @TankerFlanker , because the UCAV launch station is not deployed in advance.  It simply happens in one single movement.  The split second you place the UCAV down onto the ground, the same instant it launches into the air.  And you get/need a new launcher for every single new UCAV you deploy anyway.  So not like mortars.

The counter measure that @DingoKillr mentions would have been the only real substantial counter measure to the UCAV in the game, but unfortunately then MP-APS is not blinding the UCAV 'pilot' from seeing the intended target and keep honing into it.  The MP-APS could also by design have disabled the steering controls of the UCAV.

    Actually just thinking about it:

Smoke and especially flares do actually blind the 'camera pilot HUD' on the UCAV, so dropping those around makes it really challenging to near impossible to see the intended targets for the UCAV player.  Another thing mentioning is that the UCAV got severely nerfed after initial crazy OP settings the first year or so at game launch.  So only with the right timing of the blast by the pilot will make it really something of magnitude.  Also the time delay to new can deploy was greatly increased to like 2 minutes or so, even from the first one available.  The UCAV impact without the airburst blast is really not having much impact as both damage and damage radius is really very very small then, so when flying 'blind' its like useless.  Also reason why its not used much anywhere, except in exceptional situations where enemies are typically clustered up in close quarters.
