@PapaDrach wrote:Looks like OP cherry picked BF3. I'd much rather play BF3 than lie to myself and say the "Combined Arms" Bf2042 is a true BF game. Sure maybe at its core, but the systems in place and design was very, very poorly executed. BF3 has open maps, vehicles, Infantry vs Infantry vs Vehicles....classes, sandbox elements,
I've got 300+ hours in 2042 and have been playing battlefield for as long as OP.
2042 is just another entry in the series that requires different tactics to account for what is probably the most faced paced battlefield release in the series.
I genuinely think the maps are some of the most diverse and interesting maps battlefield has launched with for a long while.
Do I prefer BF4 at this stage, probably, but let's see what 2042 is like once they start the balancing phase.
Stew, I think the biggest problem in most players eyes is that battlefield 2042 lost its masculinity. It is the cheesy lines for them and non-military looks of characters etc. it does not change the gameplay for me at all and I don’t mind them but I’m OK if they change them too. There is also the herd mentality at play. Lots of people don’t want to lose friends over this or seem uncool making up their own minds not joining them with the hate. Also for some people it’s hard to admit that they were wrong before or hard to change their minds if convinced. It’s just a human condition. The game has problems, yes. But as Stew stated it’s not as bad as people paint it for sure. I for one try to post constructive criticism because I want the game to thrive I don’t want it to die off. I would like to play it for a few years. Portal has a lots of potential as well.

I don't really get these posts.
The player-count says it all.
Dice has postponed new content to 'summer', because they admit that game has failed and it needs a lot of changes, to have any chance gaining any popularity again.
Not even EA/Dice are defending the game anymore, so why waste time on the forums, trying to defend the game?
- 4 years ago@JOGAGATYA "lost its masculinity"
Literally what the hell does this even mean. Cheesy lines at the end have nothing to do with masculinity/femininity.
"herd mentality"
Somehow I don't think anyone is losing friends over saying they enjoy BF2042. If they are, those were terrible, awful, no-good 'friends' to begin with.
I agree that there's some hyperbole in the criticism the game receives at time, but that's largely a result of the community being abandoned to stew in negativity since the start of the year as DICE have been unwilling to communicate or engage. Plus the fact that the only information we are getting comes from a known and trusted leaker and includes things like a town hall where EA (denies) blaming Halo Infinite for many of the launch problems BF2042 faced.
Until DICE starts becoming a better source of information than a guy on Twitter, this extra negativity will remain.- 4 years ago@edgecrusherO0 Lol, the negative reaction to the 'cheesey' lines and female bad 'posteriors' rubbing your face in it have a lot to do with fragile egos and masculinity.
I'm past that point in life where I care about such things but I get why young males who like playing war games would find that an issue.- cso77774 years agoSeasoned Ace
@Tank2042ManI'm 52 years old and are way past "masculinity" or "fragile ego" issues and I find the voice-lines to be really stupid and very annoying.
It's all about setting. I have played some Apex Legends and have no issue with the voice-lines in Apex (which are as 'cringy' as any BF2042s voiceline).
But for BF it is wrong. BF is "brutal warfare" (you die a lot) and the existing specialists are so out of place in that setting. Making the specialists behave like children/teenagers, is intelligence insulting, it doesn't hurt my "masculinity" in any way.
