Planetside 2 , or MAG on Ps3 had really good platoon and squads system , 8 players squad and 16 players platoon with 4 platoon per team and 1 commander would be good or at least 8 squads of 8 with communication tool between squads leads would be needed to bring some order into a 128 players match mayhem
I love scales game like MAG or Planetside 2 but there is a need for structure tool to help and yes BF2 was better than many others BF that came after it for structure and all
- 4 years ago@Stew360 They should look into the system in Squad. This system work pretty good also in hell let loose, post scriptum, etc. You need a certain amount of people in each squad to gain certain access, vehicule squad,etc. Everyone can communication in proxy and squad vocals but only the officier in the cmd channel. They should look into 2 fireteam like you said but implement that only the fireteam leader can communication with the officer because listening to cmd vocal and squad vocal is nuts.

Dice really need to wake up on the Issue , a Squad of 4 will become totally helpless to make any meaningfull different against a team of 64 foes . We need at very least 8 players squad lobby as well as some communication tool to coordinate with other squads leaders etc..

Yeah the problem is with the squad respawning mechanic, I don't understand why they can't tweak/fix this though.
One idea could be to have a squad respawn cooldown, have a 2 minute timer starting from the moment you spawn on a squad member so you cannot squad spawn again for 2 minutes if you die before then. They can spawn elsewhere if they want just not on a squad member to avoid endless squad spawn cycles. Sort of what its like for vehicles.
This would increase the importance of medics and improve gameplay. We should be relying on getting revived anyway and not just simply giving up and respawning straight back on your squad.
And if a squad has lots of medics and can keep each other alive, then that's just good teamwork and squad play and they should reap the reward of that.
There's other ways to, have stricter conditions, say if an enemy is within 20 meters you cannot squad spawn or implement squad leader rally points etc..
I think restricting the squad to 4 players is the worst way to balance this and they should really look at a way of implementing a way for us to have bigger squads and find a way so we can be able to play with groups of friends.

With so many players and specialists, 8 player squads would be ideal but it would mean players have a lot more potential spawn points which won't help gameplay at all. That size of squads would likely only feel good if they went back to squad leader only spawning and dice sweden are terrified of that.

Dice is it possible to give a response on this post? A lot of people kinda like bigger squads. But it's very unclear from a designer perspective why you go with the 4 player size squads? It would be Nice if the forum could find a solution for the problems you are facing with bigger squads...
