Breakthrough has a game breaking issue... map boundaries
I'm not sure why map boundaries are so strict on all of the breakthrough maps but it is really starting to bug me. Below are serious issues making breakthrough really frustrating to play.
- Attackers can hide behind map boundaries while killing defenders, leaving no room for counterplay. The worst case of this is when attacker vehicles hide behind hills and buildings inside of attacker's territory. They are safe to bombard defenders while leaving no room for counterplay. If you hit them with missiles they simply back up out of view and repair, not to mention a simple missile defense system makes this tactic oppressive. The boundary does not allow defenders to flank and counter these vehicles.
- Setting up a defensive front line in front of the objective is not possible on a lot of points because map boundaries force defenders to be on top of the objective for most maps. Spearhead is a perfect example of this tactic, attacker tanks are safe to hide behind boundaries while killing defenders.
- I am constantly running into map boundaries in the middle of firefights. The new Flashpoint map is plagued with inflexible map boundaries forcing defenders into awkward positions. the best example of this would be the 3rd wellspring objective for defenders. the hill just across the road on the attacker side has a hill with a map boundary on the tip of the hill. This makes for really awkward firefights where I am running up the hill to counter attackers then immediately running back down the hill again because of the boundary on top of the hill. This feels really awkward to play with and is a bit game-breaking, to be honest.
- The new Flashpoint map cut off the giant hole in the ground in breakthrough, which would be a perfect flanking route... I really like that area of the map but for some reason they decided it doesn't need to exist in breakthrough...
