these lame * punks want to sell their skips so anything that isn't incredibly slow exp is removed
*edit* conquest sucks, there is no action, maps are too big and it's not fun. i prefer breakthrough
Breakthrough is a much better mode for BF2042, for whatever reason, and that is even considering the Stealth helo breaking it.
Conquest is not as good because the objectives are not close enough to have a forward line of troops build up where there are clashes across multiple center objectives. What happens is everyone goes in a big circle (clockwise or counter) from point to point where the bulk of one team is steamrolling 2-3 poor souls left at the objectives without a vehicle. The other team is doing the same thing on the other side of the map. The team that caps and moves to the next point faster wins. It should be called Hot Potato.
That is why I want Frontlines. It is Breakthrough with elements of Conquest. Both teams attack and defend, like soccer or football. DICE please consider Frontlines as a mode using the Breakthrough 128 objectives.

@AdamonicYeah, the maps are way to big for conquest, which is my main reason for not playing it at all.
But Frontlines i really missed that one, i played it a lot in BF1.
And i think aswell, that it could work on BF2042.
All hopes is that they are doing what they said in yesterdays stream, that the new map in season 2 is way more compact with more cover, then it's gonna be good.- 4 years ago
Honestly, between DICE killing 128p BT, the layouts of many of the maps on BT (including Exposure), the lack of any "reversable" layouts for BT maps to provide variety, and the frequent choices in which promoted modes they host, it feels like they wish they'd never included BT in 2042.
Like, it honestly feels like DICE are 95% focused on CQ and BT is largely only an afterthought.

128 player Breakthrough should have never been removed. It is the other half of the "All Out War" experience that is now unfortunately missing from the game.
Every game mode in Battlefield could benefit from a more coordinated style of play, but without a real ranked area and platoons that value playing this way. It is never going to happen in this series.

The problem DICE have is that player numbers are nowhere near where they'd like them. Adding new game modes, like we used to get in previous games, isn't worth it as it spreads a thin player base even thinner.
That's what Portal was supposed to take care of, but without rent a server, hardly any games are ever available.
I like Breakthrough, but I've been enjoying a lot of Conquest lately. For 2042 those are the two main modes we'll have and that's it.
The days of Domination, squad conquest, frontlines, grind, fortress, etc are gone for now.
