@SpudBug It really depends on the match, the matchmaking can be atrocious. I think it has to do with what you mentioned – map layouts and spawns. Some points are almost impossible to defend (B1 on current Breakaway comes to mind) and also some general game mechanics, like the ability to call a vehicle on a roof and just snipe from there, etc.
I enjoy playing defense more than offense, because it's a challenge and I learn a lot about the offender's tactics I can use in another match. I actually quit matches if I'm about to play offense. Maybe I'm just weird. :D But that doesn't mean I die a lot, I've won many times defending and in positive KD.
