BSOD When Launching BF2042 (Steam)

I am getting the BSOD when launching BF2042 (Steam). Any help would be much appreciated.

I have tried the following:

Disabling and enabling Memory Integrity

  • Uninstall/Reinstall EAC
  • Admin Privileges / Security Privileges
  • Renew Certificates for EAC.
  • Updated Drivers
  • Ran /sfc scans and no issues
  • Verify Game Integrity in Steam
  • Secure Boot Enabled
  • Overclock only enabled in AWCC when in performance mode

PC Specs:

Alienware M18 R1 Laptop

Windows 11 Pro v24H2

13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-13980HX (2.20 GHz)

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU

Installed RAM 64.0 GB (63.7 GB usable)

64-bit operating system, x64-based processor

WinDbg BSOD Crash Information:

KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e) Arguments: Arg1: ffffffffc0000005, The exception code that was not handled Arg2: fffff80685fc90f6, The address that the exception occurred at Arg3: 0000000000000000, Parameter 0 of the exception Arg4: ffffffffffffffff, Parameter 1 of the exception

I went into the BIOS and disabled all the Turbo settings and everything is working fine now. Thanks for the help!

Thanks for the detailed info. Based on the KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e) BSOD and the involvement of eaanticheat.sys, it’s very likely that EA’s Anti-Cheat (EAC) driver is misbehaving or conflicting with something on your system.
