can't guns be leveled in portal maps with 2042 gameplay?

I thought progression was unlocked. I even got ribbons and xp for everything but not guns.

This is what was outlined for the restrictions. Notice that any changes using the Rules Editor, AI and/or damage/health automatically results in just capped XP being awarded. .....so essentially, you would have to have a server with real players only, not messing with those particular settings. It's ridiculous IMO as solo/coop are nothing but bots and he game was touted for their inclusion, but that's what we have for now.
IMO, I just don't see why they couldn't at least cap Mastery progression (kills, etc) the same way they do for the XP. Only so many per minute based on a fair expectation of what that might be from gameplay in AOW, solo/coop, etc. I would even be ok if they made it easier to progress in AOW than Portal in this regard as long as there was some level of Mastery progression to unlock those weaps, accs, etc. It's better than nothing like we have now and they have all the data they need to make a determination as to what's reasonable.:

@DAYLEET This sounds a bit odd to me. If you were playing a featured mode then you should have earned Mastery XP for weapons. It's similar for "moderate" user-created experiences where Mastery XP is still earned but ribbons are deactivated.

By any chance do you remember what you were playing? I could see whether there's anything I can find out.

I made a portal mode that is only portal maps with 2042 gameplay(specialist. guns etc) and changed no values because i read somewhere that if you did you wouldnt gain progression.

Thanks - I'll pass that along as it just doesn't sound "right". Going on the info in that image you should have earned XP towards your weapons but shouldn't have been earning ribbons.

just to add more info, i had 2 friends with me and the other team got as much at one point. Neither me nor my friends got weapon kills counted toward gun level.

As long as you didn't touch the AI settings (no AI allowed), damage or health options your server should award Mastery achievements.
