Censorship is the Language of the Intellectual Bankrupt
- 4 years ago
Hey there everyone.
I wanted to stop by and address a few elements that have been brought up.
First and foremost, the forums, whether for Battlefield, FIFA or even Pogo are a place where we want all players regardless of age, location, culture, religion (and more) feel safe and comfortable to post and reply on the games that they enjoy. To do this, naturally we do have rules that we enforce and encourage all players to follow. It goes without saying, some topics just have no place on our forums; discrimination, sexual, politics, etc, have no place in our games or community spaces. This is a firm rule which we offer no leniency on.Gaming really is the great unifier with people of any age, ability, background being able to interact and enjoy them. Outside the core "no-nos" above, we try and leave threads in tact as much as possible, by editing or removing problematic replies and DMing users on why their posts changed. We give ample opportunity for education before applying any heavy sanction against a player. With this being said, while something may come off as joking or banter, in another viewpoint it may be perceived as rude or inflammatory. As we decide how to handle a thread, we do consider the context of the post and try to understand player intention in what they're saying. However, if the common perception of a post is negative, that is when we step in.
With the limitation of being able to convey tone in text (I've gotten myself into trouble with this too!), while something was intended to come across in a friendly or joking manner, this can be lost. I would encourage you all to review the rules and going forward, before hitting submit, reread what you've wrote and check that there's no obviously way for it to be taken negatively. We'd love to be in a world where we don't have to moderate threads, but we need your help in ensuring you're all posting in a friendly and positive manner, even if you're criticizing 🙂
