due to the fact that the class system has locks a class to a specific weapon some classes where unpopular picks, only some few people who were dedicated to balance picked up AA or rocket (or where a premade team)
also, the old class and squad system favours premade teams which easily could get one team to be dominating an around. Which we all have seen enough in BF4, BF1 and BF V
Some Remember a whole Team camping the enemy’s main Base? No one? what a pity….
And limiting things to a Specialist will make some specialist an unpopular pick. Why should you want this?
With the new specialist system players can create their own class and give them a chance to be even to everyone, so all players could now be a thread to everyone. It seems to me that this is a good base for balance.
Now playing objectives and teamplay is more needed than before and player are doing it already
If dice puts in more rewards for teamplay it can only get better
The most people who are complaining at the moment are Tank and Helicopter pilots, often it seems to me that thy don’t want to adapt the new playstyles that are needed.
Also, Helicopters, Tanks, AA and Bolte are still things that get the most K/D so they need something that holds against them.

@CountSero Everything you say is well and true and in a perfect world id probably agree. Also contrary to what my name would suggest I play everything but a bit more jets and infantry. Where the problem lies is this is not a perfect world and the implementation of specialists has been far from working and I'm willing to bet that if dice were to release some statistics they would be pretty grim.
Most gadgets are not just underused... They aren't used at all. Whens the last time you've seen people using anti vehicle mines? Its not just them Soflam, insertion beacon which used to be run by recons are basically none existent in this game outside of the occasional player testing it out for fun. I think this has been detrimental Soflams and beacons are super useful and can make or break games but nobody runs them and why would they when M5 and AA is nearly always just free vehicle kills.

1. Medi kit & Ammunition
2. Armor plate
3. AA & M5
4. C5 & Anti-Tank Mines
5. Entry Beacon
6. Med Pen
7. Soflam
8. Repair Tool
Yes, related to the Soflam I will agree to you and in my observation and reading the chat in game Soflam is not rewarded also people are not shooting marked targets. I played it and I think it can be good if you get an assist for hit or kill of a marked vehicle, but it is a great spotting utility^^
I tried to play Repair tool for myself but in a random squad to many drivers\pilots are used to fall back to heal them self than giving a player a chance to repair the vehicle (even if you mentioned it in squad chat)
Med Pen is useful but there are so many medics on the hot spot that is not needed there

I have been suggesting this, keep the specialists but have them class based. I think this would add a lot more to the specialists and make 2042 a whole lot better when playing as a squad. Honestly this could change the game for the better. We still have the specialists and the abilities, but they are put into classes.
