"This game needs:
MAPS, MAPS, AND MORE MAPS!"
THIS I absolutely AGREE WITH
I wish they would put some of the other maps/portal maps etc into the normal 128 player conquest rotation. Since we can;t actually filter maps - if I see Flashpoint or Exodus ONE more time I am gonna go mad!
Spearhead is IMO the best 128 Conquest map we have.

Assuming DICE had $xx budget to spend.
I'd rather see that money spent on 60Hz servers, dedicated netcode engineers, dedicated QoL improvement team.

I could not agree less with this, Spearhead is just the perfect size for 128. The map is 'decent' but it's the SIZE that is why I enjoy it so much.
Many of the other maps, while very impressive, make for an incredibly inconsistent experience, far far too much useless dead space, extremely inefficient designs.
I am going to assume you did not like BFV or at the least played entirely different maps. In BF2042 I wish for more maps like Devastation, Rotterdam, Al Marj, Underground, Narvik was playable, Marita and Provence too.
Many of the other maps (Like Hamada OML no NEVER EVER) thanks to the GLORIUS server filter, I never touched in my 100's and 100's of BFV hours.
Let's get some more normal maps with 128 players, more action less RUNNING, OML YES!!
If only we had a map filter, slapped in all the maps in the main rotation, then simply let people choose if they wish to bush wookie for 15 minutes per kill or if they wanna FIGHT! The MAPS MAKE the play style.- Captain_Tachi2 years agoSeasoned Hotshot
The truth will be somewhat in between. I doubt the full BF2042 team will be working on this game at the moment but I also don't think that a skeleton crew could make all these changes, we got.
This game barely generated any money anymore. I don't know it, but I would doubt, that it is the cash cow, EA wanted to have. So where is the motivation, to put even more effort in this game. Too many reworks have to be done, to get a great game. So they made adjustments to get a "decent" game and I have to admit, it got better than I would have expected after the launch.
The resources are better used for the next BF game, a studio like DICE doesn't have unlimited resources, neither in money or head count. They have to make money and the more money they make, I would assume, the more freedom they get to make new games.
From a financial perspective, season 5 is more, than I would have expected from this game. We only can hope, that DICE and EA have learned their lesson, that the BF franchise is living from it's core community and its core features. And that you should focus on the gameplay first and monetization second. The Call of Duty franchise didn't get so successful, because they had such a nice shop, it was because people wanted to spend time with the game and are willing to give some extra money for cosmetics.
I think then we could expect, that more people will work for the game as a service model.

They have the best advertising team in the world cause they can make a bad game look great, or something so minute look so amazing with one of their trailers. So fix the game, make it battlefield again, then advertise that so players come back and will naturally dump money into the store and season passes. By bailing on this game and not fully rectifying it they will have permanently broke the trust of the vast majority of the veterans and community that know, love, and buy battlefield. The money I have into the battlefield franchise has exceeded that of any other hobby/video game iv ever had (thousands of dollars for sure). The way theyve done this game has out right disgusted me.
