@or71z6g6yul1I can’t answer all of that, but I can tell you that you’ll need an XBox controller as PlayStation controllers don’t work easily. You’ll need adapters for ports, I think you need Steam as well. PCs being Microsoft they’re equipped for it. If you want a PC that’s great, but don’t drop $2500+ to build a computer for 2042. It’s not worth it. Long term, a mouse and keyboard will give you slightly better responses and options over a controller.
When battlefield 2042 came out my xbox controller worked fine via blutooth but in December none of the buttons worked i had to buy the official windows adapter for xbox controllers i still use it to this day. On dying light if you use a controller with out the adapter the game will freak out and drop to sub 10fps.
I can switch from keyboard/mouse to controller so like this person said xbox controller is best has way more support on pc but you must get the official adapter now on these new games the controller can be xbox one pad or series pad.
As far as building a rig right now rapter lake am5 socket cpus are coming out same with 4000 series nividea cards and new amd cards so go prebuilt high spec cheap clearance rigs.
You can get a rtx 3060 rig with a intel 12gen cpu at maingear all off the shelf parts for $1400 usd. Lenovo build redux also offer of the shelf parts with cheap 3060 rigs around the same price.
If you want to spend 2500 usd then go maingear again but get the 12700 rig with a 3080 for 2200usd.
I am saying these companies because they offer great warranties have great reputations and the parts can be swapped out. If you go intel 12 gen then next year or year after you can slap in the new gpu's coming out that are pcie 5th gen with ease because intel 12gen boards supporrts pcie 5.0.
Here is the main gear 3080 12700rig in question.

As far as competing with pc players here is a video from season one were i used a controller personally i only fell a dis advantage in netcode and those obvious cronus/mod menu players.
